In Your Wildest Dreams!
One of the best quirky little movies I have seen lately is 'Small Apartments'. It's showing on one of the Pay Per View movie channels (SuperChannel maybe?) and it's really a great understated performance by Billy Crystal in a straight role. It's not a big budget flick by any means...it's a little arthouse film festival type, so if that appeals to you, I highly recommend it!

Pacific Rim - sounds like a title for a porn. Godzilla meets the Transformers, pretty good fights but gets bogged down when they spend time on the pilot's personal drama.

Bullet To The Head - Stallone was the only thing that kept this going, otherwise a improbable by the numbers revenge thriller. The axe fight was original.

Rum Diary - turned it off after 40 mins., some good performances and tropical scenery can't save this slow moving/mundane flick. For die hard Johnny Depp fans only.

In Your Wildest Dreams!
I saw The World's End over the weekend. It was OK. It has its moments. I was expecting more from something from Simon Page, but, it was still an OK movie
I watched it last night and LOVED it...but I could pretty much watch/listen to Simon Pegg, Nick Frost & Bill Nighy read me the London Phone Directory and I'd feel like I had gotten my money's worth! I cannot count how many times I've seen Shaun of the Dead, and Paul is running a close second. When it comes on the free movie channels, I'll PVR it and watch it a dozen or so times!

Dallas Buyer's Club - A greta step back in time to when AIDS began. Terrific performances from Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto.

Captain Phillips - Maybe another Oscar nod for Tom Hanks. Tension-filled from start to finish.

Philomena - Great acting (Judi Dench) and a heart-tugging true story.

This movie is spectacular...very articulate and well thought out IMHO. Some scenes were very intense and left me at the edge of my seat....amazing!
spectacular flick, right up to the closing scene - then we were treated to the lamest ending in movie history... i've seen stronger endings in tv weeklies fer chrissake! talk about leaving the story totally unsolved - for hunger games 3! plus donald sutherland's act is starting to get REALLY boring... the least they could have done was bump him off in favour of a real villian

I would like to remake "Brokeback Mountain" with vancity_cowboy.
You could still do it if he says no. You'd just have to play Ledger's part.

How did you even find that!?!?!?^^^^ Haha!

I just dropped in here and I find you two comedians!! HA!!!

Dallas Buyer's Club is well worth watching.Matthew Macconaughey(sp?) is amazing.

also recommend All Is Lost and Capt. Phillips.
TY. I really want to see that! I love anything based on a true story!

I saw it when it came out and I have to agree with rintin6. I'm a HUGE fan of Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz. I also thoroughly enjoyed Paul (although that one was not directed by Edgar Wright) and absolutely LOVED Scott Pilgrim vs The World (which was directed by Wright). World's End just seemed to lack the energy of those other films. I agree that it still had some good moments but I guess it just didn't live up to the expectations I had for it given the talent involved in its making. (By the way, if you're a fan of these guys, check out the series called SPACED. I believe it's on netflix :) )

I thought the first one was a much better paced film. It seemed to take a REALLY long time for them to get to the "games" in Catching Fire. I have not read the books but I had read somewhere that the movie ends rather abruptly on a cliffhanger. I was actually expecting a cut to black a scene earlier as Katniss passes out while being lifted to the ship. I did think the final scenes on the ship were pretty poignant and do a good job of setting up the next film. I'm told by someone who has read the books that this one was actually pretty faithful to the book. That might go towards explaining the somewhat clunky pacing of the movie. But like a buddy of mine said when the audience groaned at the end... "Kids these days! The next one is coming out in a year! At least they don't have to wait through three years of Han Solo frozen in carbonite!" :D

Don Jon – Scarlet Johansson, Joseph Gordon Levitt, Julianne Moore. A movie about porn addiction, pretty funny, overdid the Jersey Shore stereotypes a bit. No nude scenes from the female leads though; 11 times is that even possible.

Hot Tub Time Machine – John Cusack, Craig Robinson. I was rather disappointed not many laughs. Others may want to skip it. There's a sequel being made, i don't know why.

Saw "American Hustle" last night. Worth all the hype I thought!

Only thing I was disappointed: the girl on girl Jennifer Lawrence/Amy Adams fleeting kiss deserved at LEAST as long as the Christian Bale preparing the comb-over, don't you think?

Just watched 300: Rise of an Empire. It was so bad it was good. If you're looking for a historically accurate piece, this isn't for you. But if you are looking for lots of violence and something to watch on a Sunday afternoon, then this might be one you watch. Ho boy, there were lots of silly cliches and catch phrases being used in the film. At times, it felt like it was trying to parody 300. I definitely see why it was postponed and re-edited after production.

Seriously though, what was up with the movie title? It has nothing to do with the rise of an empire. *shrugs shoulders*

2 chiseled wash board abs out of 5 chiseled and very homoerotic washboard abs.

Hey it wasn't a total loss, at least they showed Eva Green's sweet, sweet rack.

I just saw Wolf of Wallstreet. It was so dumb it was good. It definitely seemed like a dark comedy.

Though I don't see how people are so up in arms over Leo not winning best actor at the Oscars. Leo plays a good looking guy who hangs out on yachts and bangs hot women all the time. In otherwords, Leo is just playing himself.

Margot Robbie is absolutely incredible. She looks amazing naked. You know you have an incredible body when you look better naked than with clothes on and otherwise straight women say that they'd turn for her.

3.5 naked Margot Robbies out of 5 naked Margot Robbies.
in case you missed it, the guy who introduced leo as the motivational speaker to the audience in australia at the end of the movie, was the ACTUAL wolf of wall street on whom the movie was based!

i thought that was kinda cool

Rented "Lone Survivor" last night and liked it a lot. Gritty, gritty film based upon a true story from Afghanistan.

Two great movies recently - The Neighbors and X-Men: Days of Future Past (non 3D cause it gives me a headache).

I haven't laughed out loud at a movie that hard since 21-jump street. I love dumb goonie movies though, so keep that in mind. I highly recommend The Neighbors.

I've always been a huge X-Men fan; read the comics and everything. The last X-Men movie that came out for the trilogy (the last stand) was so horrible, so I was excited that they went back to the same director as the first two. I really enjoyed it, and I'm pumped that they're already working on the next one.
Plus Hugh Jackman is a babe.

Happy movie watching!
