simply amazing:rolleyes:...

VANCOCK has done it again...

in the form of the Canadian Pavilion...

10 million dollars for a structure that has the architectural splendor of a construction trailer/ tent/Quonset hut...

here's the kicker...

they outsourced the assembly to some Chicago outfit...

apparently nobody in Canada had the where-with-all to assemble this ramshackle piece of garbage...

bunch of sheep...

baaa baaa baaa...

I am not a major supporter of the Olympics, but hun, if you're going to keep on complainin' get it right. VANOC has nothing to do with the Canadian Pavilion. That is strictly a boondoggle by the Feds.

Does it make it any less pathetic that it was a Federal project? In the end we are all going to be paying for it.

The orig intention 4 years ago, was that it would be a BC and federal joint project, but for some reason(?) this fell through, and with only about 84 days to go 'till the start of the games, the feds put it out to bid, but with only 14 days to make and submit a bid(!), only the US firm actually had the ability to create a project from scratch and build to such a tight time line. Using lego block pre-designed structures. Since my business is construction, I have to take my hat off to them, achieving anything that fast is amazing.

The blame presumably falls on the BC Govt and the Feds for not getting their act together at a much earlier stage which would have allowed Canadian companies to design and build far more interesting structures.

It really does seem that the Feds and BC govt dropped the ball on this one, and , to coin a Perb appropriate phrase "Couldn't be trusted to organize a fuck-up in a brothel"... :D

I think the term "atrocity" is way over the top here!! No one died here, its a construction contract.

As for a US company getting the deal, that is GREAT news. It shows that our integrated economies are working well together. NAFTA and the recent announcement that Buy-American is now open to Canadian firms is going to benefit Canadian business MUCH more than it will benefit the Yanks.

Um, yeah - let's see:

Number of people here who think I'm a douchebag - not many.
Number of people here who think YOU'RE a douchebag - can't be measured with existing technology.

Smell ya later, moron.

$10 million is nothing compared to what they spend on drug re-hab programs every year.

And those programs have less than a 5% success rate in BC, so figure that 95% of the money is a total waste.

But, I'm sure that it's all Vanoc's fault

I'll take the high road like I always do...

a path you haven't travelled to often...

but if I can instill one bit of wisdom in you...

it's this...

what is right is not always popular...

and what is popular is not always right...

for the life of me, I thought the sordid Tiger Woods story would have brought that home to you...

have a nice day...

hey hunny, are you still crying about your ignorant posting in the Wally Buono thread, My goodness man, get a life. You seem to be moving toward silky territory but without the foul mouth insults. Are you saving those for later?

Do you really think the U.S. is going to help Candian firms? The only firms that will get even a trickle will be the ones that are subsidiary companies of U.S., with the profits going to pay off American's huge debt, another byproduct of your great NAFTA.
