Money won't make you happy.

This coming from a sp...you crack me up. You charge 200+ a hour and you're telling me money doesnt matter much. It's doubtful the majority of your income from sping is donated for charity. If money didnt matter you'd be working a reg job making a reg income.
Exactly! Am I the only one bothered by these self-aggrandizing commercials in every thread?

I don't know too many escorts that make much in a year.

A lot of them do by stuff for other people.

Their job is sweet though.

Life is good, with or without money. :)

EZ I couldn't agree more! So, I think you should charge $10 per hr and make the world a happier place! Afterall, money doesn't matter and you are content with $10 per hr.

Life is good!

Money won't make you happy.

I welcome anyone here who is dumb enough to believe this is true to give me your money.

I'd be more than happy to prove you wrong.

Cash only please.

meh

I while ago one morning, exhausted from working double shifts at my job, my boss walked in.
"Hey! Howz it going?" He greeted me
"Alright i guess" I replied unenthusiastically
"Just alright? what would make you happier?"
"More money"
"Hah! Money won't make you happy buddy"

He then left with cash out envelope of profits that counted up the night before and left.

before i leave my opinion on this i want to hear what you think. is it true? money won't make you happy?
money doesn't buy happiness, but it buys a really big boat right next door to it :D

The only people who believe money brings happiness are those without it.

The truth is money to me is like a bad addiction. Having it and making it doesn't bring joy but NOT making it brings depression.

The more you make the more you feel you could have made more. There is no satisfaction. EVER.

I am a slave to money.

I heard on the radio a couple of weeks ago an amazing statistic. Apparently something like 40% of Canadians take only 2 days off the entire year ! I find that hard to believe. Why, to make ends meet... to make more money to pay for their toys ? I dunno.

Society bombards us with ads to consume more. Have a basic cell, upgrade to an Iphone. Have a perfectly fine 5 year old car, gotta get a gas guzzling SUV with earth moving subwoofers and 26" chrome wheels. On and on and on. Does it all make you any happier? Perhaps in the short term but eventually you'll want bigger, better. Everyone is guilty of it to some extent but those who come to realize there is a balance are the happiest.

Money will make you happy until you get past the subsistence level (basic everyday needs). No, money alone won't make you happy. I've known people who were rich and constantly miserable, because their whole life was about making money, worrying about it, and basically being on a treadmill of acquistion. Then there are people who have lower paying jobs, but manage their money and have a satisfying family, relationships, friends, well rounded life. Balance is the key to a happy life, not gobs of $$.
QFT.

This has been looked at scientifically. Of course, money is going to make you lots happier if you're struggling to meet your basic needs and comforts. Past that, it has decidedly diminishing returns.

For awhile I was in a position to know some of Canada's richest and most priveleged families. Let me tell you, those people were a mixed bag. Some were truly miserable, and others seemed like perfectly normal middle class people who happened to drive Ferraris. Like someone said before this, it's all inside you.

CNN Article On Happiness

As the graphic at left shows, going from earning less than $20,000 a year to making more than $50,000 makes you twice as likely to be happy, yet the payoff for then surpassing $90,000 is slight. And while the rich are happier than the poor, the enormous rise in living standards over the past 50 years hasn't made Americans happier.

I'm glad i started an interesting thread for debate! and i haven't even given my input as yet.

I think i agree with Aerts the most. he said:-

Indeed it's all about balance really.

I read somewhere that you need 3 things to truely be happy, and these 3 things need to be balanced, and if not balanced affect each other. they are HEALTH, WEALTH, and LOVE. (when i say wealth people i don't mean filthy rich!) Thus:-

HEALTH+WEALTH+LOVE = HAPPINESS

remove one from the equation and the other 2 will slowly deteriorate. I believe this is true. let's say for instance if we were to eliminate wealth from the equation. finances are now tight. it would be hard to get by to take care of yourself, (eating right, exercise) this of course will affect your love life as you will become undesirable to the opposite sex. not to mention you would not be able to afford to take entertain someone on a date, or have good enough clothes to be presentable. without money to finance your health care or love life you are likely to become very unhappy.

i got more to add, but i really hate long posts and this one is long already :p

think about it dudes. the reason why you can have a new love every month is money.

keeping healthy does cost something as well. these things all relate to each other. if you take one out of the equation the others will suffer.

Are you kidding me? All my fantasies cum true. I've been lusting for you ever since I read something you posted about how you love being on top. The only thing that stopped me was lackacash.
See? Money does make a difference
Now get this - I make good $ but I'm working hard to start a business and so far it's all expenses. The landlord gets his, the government gets theirs, the building supply gets theirs, etc. Everybody has their hand out, I'm flying by the seat of my pants, freaked out that I may not make it after all and have yet to sell anything ( exotic bathroom fixtures ). All of that stress to make enough money to eliminate some of that stress. Unfortunately I spent my youth in frivolous play so now I have to do double time to have enough $ to avoid dining on catfood in my old age. Meanwhile, dearest Euro, I'd crawl ten miles on my hands and knees over broken glass to sniff the exhaust fumes of the laundry truck that took away your dirty knickers. Or maybe I should just save some money huh? LOL

Happiness is a choice.

Happiness is a choice.

Happiness is all in the mind. Positive attitude is Key!

Happiness is just an illusion caused by the temporary absence of reality.
