Recently came off an unreasonable banning.
Warned, then banned two minutes later.
My banning stated,"You have been banned for the following reason:
Insulting other members, inappropriate language."
It was for posting a lyric from one of my favourite punk bands from Australia - Frenzal Rhomb, to make a point about the use of words and language. I was not, and never have "lashed out" at another member. Unfortunately, I got banned before being allowed to explain.
A certain poster here has what I consider an offensive signature. His defence for it is - it doesn't really mean what it states - it's just a line from a punk rock song. What I called the guy wasn't what it looked like, either - it was just an example of my punk band's creativity.
I was applying the same logic, and got banned, which pretty much makes my point that words mean what they mean; you can't say they don't mean something drawing on a different context.
Allowing one blanket offensive message justified by a pathetic logic could lead to more offensive posts and sigs. Below are the lyrics, with the relevant line .
(I mean, really - like I wouldn't know how to spell "fuckin'?")
The sticker on your car, has surely gone too far
Now I stare and wonder at the decision making process
Should be you be allowed, to be shouting proud
When you got a sickness inside, what if
I had something to offend you just as much as this
You still wanna have your say, but your braindead
Used to drive around, stinking up my town
Should have had a billboard poster that says:
...a backwards fucken retard useless piece of dogshit...
