turns out it looks like some guys from Toronto (one lady recognized the robber from Toronto- it was her customer there) are making there way across Canada hitting Micros through all the major cities. One Asian guy, one Black and a Caucasian. They are violent if they don't get money. Burnaby got hit at 7 different places last week (and only one calls police) and one on Victoria Drive (there were more but they weren't discussed in the article). They don't speak about stealing from any customers. They try to hit places with more than a couple girls. Well dressed and professional. There is more than the three guys. They will change up the number of each race to mix up the bosses who know of the thieves being in the area.

This has been going on since Mid to Late December, its about time the micros pack some heat, hide some muscles. The ladies are pretty dumb to pack their money in their bags, i wonder if their boss or agency take the hit. The Singtao Daily is not to be trusted, the paper reminds me of tabloids like Next Magazine. They often magnify the problem without analyzing and rely on shitty sources. It mentioned about VPD spokesman discussing about these incidents, I have yet to find it on a press release in the VPD website.

I heard this story first hand from one of the ladies who was robbed. I saw the bruises and cuts that corroborate this. Violence part of the business that you hate to see happen to anyone. The robbers see the micros as easy targets. I don't know if it is due to language barriers or the need to do high volume, but many of the micros don't seem to take any precautions in screening potential clients.

It always eventually happens

It always eventually happens in any kind of profitable underground enterprise.

Back in the old punk rock days we built up a series of very large underground warehouse music clubs stretching from the waterfront near Hastings and Main all the way up into Yaletown.

For years it was a very fun, lively and profitable scene for the bands, sound and lighting companies, promoters, and the people who had the spaces and organized the events.

Ultimately so much cash began to flow that soon some protection racketeers appeared, shortly followed by some violent robberies. Of course soon after that the police cracked down and the entire scene died just in time for Expo 86

Dirt bags have to ruin it for everyone else eh?

That explains why I been hearing about some places not been answering calls lately...and here I thought it was primarily due to the new years holiday.

This ain't anything new really since it's happened in other cities. I guess the micro bosses will have to figure out a way to tighten their security

I am surprised Vancouver Police don't appear to have a system in place to deal
with violent offenders in the sex industry. In Toronto there are cops assigned to the sex
industry. Any girl can contact the relevant officers anonymously or via email and the cops will follow-up if they have sufficient info to work with. It does not matter to the cops whether
the girl is here legally or not.
