MM is right, i am refering to their loosing trust in police and becoming more vulnerable to violence. also, the ads of other workers provide cover, help them to hide. the sheer volume of ads makes it impossible for police to check them all.
i do understnad your perspective on illegal foreign workers. as a canadian worker, those who come here and "take our jobs" as it were concern me. however, i also believe foreign workers bring excitment to our industry here. i like to compare it to music or art. imagine if only canadian artists were allowed to preform or hold shows? i guess the argument on that level is bitter sweet, i know many candian artists who need jobs....it is a tough question.
in my advocacy work i try to stay seperate from my personal feelings and on this issue, i have choosen to fight the violence they experience, their arrest and detention and the harms they face when they return to their home countries, where in some cases according to GAATW (global alliance against trafficking in women) they are executed. in a recent paper published by GAATW, they state they have officially entered a time when anti trafficking measures are causing more harm than human traffickers in thailand.
i agree with your timex sentiment. its also causing strain on the market. there were not enough jobs for everyone before, now its spread even thinner. its like taxi licensing. the city will only issue so many licenses as there is a threshold of numbers of cabs after which driving a taxi is not profitable for anyone. that's why you see the taxi drivers fighting sometimes....
