So are they inside the interior? Nasty!! Get Charlee's kitten to fix that.
Or under the hood. I like the beeper thing.

I have two semi related stories.

Just before Covid I went out to start my car, fired up OK, hopped in and drove off. 1 minute in, the message system pops up with a dire "PULL OVER AND STOP YOUR ENGINE IMMEDIATELY". Geesus WTF was that. So I did and after some attempts figured this needed a repair. To cut to the chase, a rat had gotten into the engine area and was sleeping when I started the car. The alternator belt cleanly cleaved the rat bastard and popped off. So strike one for the rat taking my car out and one for the car getting back at the rat.

My brother (the one who bought bitcoin at $250) moved to Aus years ago. When he was in Perth, had a mouse problem in his garage. Set traps etc but the cute little varmint avoided all those. Went into the garage one morning, and found the mouse. In a spider web. With the redback sitting above it, looking all smug, fat and happy.

So westwoody you could get yourself a redback :)

Mouse trap baited with peanut butter wrapped in a small piece of paper towel…..trim to the same size as the trigger tab.
Check your trap line regularly as there’s always more than one.

Irish spring bar of soap here and there. Smells nice, vermin hate it
This also worked for me most of the time. Also important to spray away all the droppings and hose down all their piss....otherwise they feel like it's home with their scent and crap all over your engine bay. They love sitting on the battery usually cause it's warm and one of the few flat spots in there where they can rest. Also, if they did a number on your electrical wires (chewing, nawwing), ICBC will let you claim that and have it repaired, just need to pay deductible.

I’m surprised to hear that a spider web is strong enough to tangle a mouse unless the mouse got bitten by the spider while it’s trying to eat a captured insect.

You're fucked. Depending how bad, MPI may write it off. It's better and less expensive to write the car off than have you in the hospital or killed from Hantavirus.

Traps with peanut butter have worked the best and many open cans of coffee over a long period will help to alleviate the odour. If you park outside, try to park on gravel with a 6 foot gravel border, mice do not like the feel of rough textures and being in the open. Never park on grass, even mowed. If your car is indoors on a concrete floor use a combination of live traps and poison bait stations around both sides of doors and along walls, remembering mice do not like to be seen, they run along the walls.

Mice are not deterred by any soap, will use mothballs for toys and fabric softener sheets for nests.

These little varmints love eating cables, wiring harnesses and anything chewable.

I left an SUV outside and didn’t drive it for a while. Sure enough I went to start it and engine wouldn’t turn over. Sure enough they had eaten through my wiring harness.

The ultrasonic thing in the YouTube didn’t work for me. I chose to do a thorough cleaning starting with the shampoo and then a full detail too.

There is that too. Is cat shit any better than mouse shit?
Mouse shit is far superior. It is in dried "pellet" form and is easy to stack or arrange for packaging. Or be used as packaging.
Cat shit can have a high moisture content, unpredictable consistency and inconsistent shape/size.

Dryer sheets stuffed in strategic places under the hood. Make sure to count how many you put in so you can take the same amount out. Works well if you over winter a vehicle outside.

If you are going to stuff something, stuff with coarse steel wool.
