I am pleased you appreciate the poll - I think we all know the Maverick of whom I speak!
I don't care if he's employed or not, he's a fine human being :)

Not a statistician, but I did take a statistics course in the past... and statistics are interesting... they can be very revealing and insightful if taken and interpreted properly. I used to run a lottery pool, and a few friends and me determined from past results analysis that there are certain non-random tendencies in the 6/49 machine for example. Of course, our analysis did not mean we would automatically win, it just meant we probably improved out odds from 1 in 14 million to say... 1 in 7 million or something like that. I find things like that fun.

As for the information, it is more for interests sake. I like to learn stuff. It is not because I'm trying to be nosey or pry into people's private lives. PERB has probably been my most interesting experience thus far. Before this year, I used to think Escorts just went out for dinner and dancing. It was my first foray into this whole taboo world. I've learned a lot of interesting things, and while I'm no longer an active pooner (like one lovely SP told me, get in, fuck as many girls as possible, then bring a sweet girl home to mama), it's still fun to post on PERB and give Vancouverman a run for his money in the lounge.

Reality TV has kind of slowed down... at least the fun ones to talk about... beauty and the geek, the bachelor, for love or money, and my all time favourite... PARADISE HOTEL! That was the cheesiest piece of trash reality show ever... but I loved it. Put a bunch of hot 20 year olds in some upscale hotel fitted with cameras, insert a lot of booze and partying, and a hot female host with an australian or british accent, and that is the recipe for a great show IMO! Too bad they cancelled FOREVER EDEN... which was kinda like the sequel to that...

Ok I'm done with my daily rant... I gotta go... I'm late for dinner... my instructor wants me to tell her about the Mig... and I still haven't taken a shower!

The problem is that you still end up with too many numbers for a sane person to purchase every 6 number combination.

There are sets of numbers that are drawn together. 3 and 8; 23 and 28; 11 and 20; 44 and 47 are all statistically drawn together more often than they are drawn apart.

If one puts the numbers into a dbase or spreadsheet, one will also find that there is a pattern to which numbers are drawn the draw after. This shouldn't be because the machines are run through numerous test runs that the numbers are not published for. However, it does happen and can be shown through statistics. There is also an amazing coincidance between the numbers drawn for other lottories.

There was a guy who had this all figured out and was buying massive amounts of tickets for the BC49. The reason he picked the BC49 is the tickets at the time were only 50 cents. Lotto BC wrote new rules that prevent people from buying "excessive" numbers of tickets and raised the price to a $1 per ticket. In court they claimed this was to save people from spending too much on lottories. The truth is that BC49 doesn't roll up to bigger payouts and is a not so hidden tax on the person who buys tickets. They didn't want to be paying out $2,000,000 plus the other prizes to anybody who had the money to buy all the numbers that statistically could be drawn the next draw. The guy had reduced his odds of winning $2M to about 1 in 2000 and was guaranteed to win more than he spent if allowed to purchase all of the number combinations the system generated.

watching from the sidelines
I think Mav. is a pretty driven person who is intelligent and seeks to be a perfectionist in his own mind. With that in mind Mav. more than likely works more than full time, and dedicates his time to this board when he can. Just my 1/2 a cent because I can. Cheers to you Mav.Baby
