Brits are keeping more than a stiff upper lip at a party site for King Charlescoronation.
Pranksters mowed a giant erect penis into the hallowed lawn of Royal Crescent in Bath, where a major celebration is planned, according to outlets.

The 30-foot spectacle was apparent to locals on Thursday morning, two days ahead of the big day, SomersetLive reported. They must have quickly realized it was not a likeness of Charles’ scepter.

A Georgian-themed “grand coronation party” is scheduled at Royal Crescent to celebrate Charles’ ceremony in London’s Westminster Abbey, SWNS reported. Picnics and impromptu gatherings are also expected in the area, and around the country.
“Celebrate the 300th anniversary of the Georgian era. Decorate your own regal crown, watch demonstrations on royal fashion and visit the Georgian Cook cooking up delicious recipes in the kitchen,’’ a flyer said of the party, per the Mirror.
Looks like cock is already being served.

This made me laugh. Fuck the monarchy.
Bit of a political opinion but I am surprised that Canadians are still ok to have a monarch and live in a constitutional monarchy even if its just symbolic. Canada needs to move away from this and become a republic with an elected or appointed head of state who is a Canadian citizen not some outside king/queen. Enough of giving this royal family preferential treatment knowing this same family has committed horrendous crimes in past and continue to be queationable in present.

The shorter Chuck’s reign, the better. Both previous Charleses were absolute shitheads.
He isn’t as bad as them but has little charisma or relevance to most people in England.

A CTV poll / article shows that Canadians are definitely not OK with a monarch. Problem is that our constitution would need a change to be rid of it which can be done, needs political will. And I doubt that is there in our current stable of "leaders". Instead we have to spend millions supporting a GG, LG's and all the pomp and BS that goes with it.

Apparently this weekend the majority of Brits are tuning into a Eurovision TV show instead of the coronation ...

I’ll bet the Honeymoon after Chuck’s coronation will be short. To me he is epitome of a pompous ass.

I think Australia will be the first to decide if they become a Republic. It is not just the younger Australians but a large number of older generations who still hold a grudge due to Buckingham palace’s alleged involvement with firing the PM of the day Gough Whitlam.

I have suspected for years that monarchy after QE II probably won't last. If I'm right, Canada won't need to worry about "staying" anymore.

The Brits sure know how to put on a show, it’s been the same for centuries it was quite fascinating, too bad they are short staffed now. Princess Anne has quite a work load as Andrew and Harry have fallen out of favour, they do a lot of charity works around the globe. Old Chucky hung in there and did his duty, can’t be fun living in a fishbowl like that. When you see all those fancy uniforms etc, a whole lot of jobs are dependent upon them and they are a huge tourist draw. Canada has a new King, hmmmm never gave that much thought, he’s pretty old, William looks ready to go when it’s his turn.

Most are not. Removing it requires a unanimous vote.. good luck getting 100% agreement in politics. Pretty much impossible.

That being said the monarchy is purely for appearances and has zero power. It's still rediculous however.

Folks, not exactly sure how this thread about the monarchy got so off track, but it is closed and the main culprit of the hijacking has been given a warning. We have a Canadian political thread, keep your whining or fan boy shit about Harper for there please.
