Iceman?????

More like Iceman...

Exactly what in your realife are you the best in the world at?

Arrogant, incooperative, unwilling to help others be better.

Bad flat top hair cut. Stiff terrible acting. Bad Dialogue.

Which Iceman characteristis do you posses?

Or are you 5' 6" and crazy hence the desire to be like Tom Cruise / Maverick

You are right

Spiked and Frosted like any real man likes to wear his hair.

Gives it a sort of Vanilla Ice feel too it.

This is my personal personality analysis of the 2 characters from the movie:

Iceman flies ice cold, with no mistakes. He is a tactician, putting together picture perfect "textbook" maneuvers. He is a planner. He'll bore you to death, and if you make 1 mistake you're dead. Iceman also talks a lot less. He lets his flying do the talking. He's cocky, but backs it up with his actions... which means he isn't really cocky.

Maverick flies by the seat of his pants, a wildcard. Textbook? Forget it. Rules? What rules? He has a big mouth and is overly aggressive, to the point where it gets him in trouble. He is cocky, but unlike iceman, cannot always back it up.

Cocky

So Iceman isn't cocky.

He is completely cocky. He isn't confident he is cocky he doesnt look after just himself he worries about others and likes to tell them where they are wrong. Is isn't the Alpha dog, but he wants to be, he tries to be.

In the end Iceman only won becasue Goose got killed. Plus had the Flat Spin happened to Iceman he would have never recovered he would have been done, because he wouldn't have been able to rationalize something random.

Maverick knew it was an accident, and deep down knew that he couldn't have done anything, he was most affected by the fact that his best friend was dead while he was flying. He needed Goose's dog tags to get him back in the game. It was the loss of Goose not the loss of his confidence that was dogging him.

Iceman was good possibly very good, but he could never be great. He just didn't have the intangibles. He knew this, and this is why he was threatened by Maverick.

Secondly as a character he was manufactured to be the anti Maverick he didn't have his own personality, his personality was everthing that Maverick wasn't. Kind of like not having a real identity. Kind of the wodden cut out hollywood style. But if we get past this part and pretend that the movie is real, Iceman is a good example of a typical real life type.

Iceman was also a fraud. He was called IceMan becasue he was so calm and cool and in control, but he couldn't even contain himself around Maverick. He had to engage Maverick and call him Dangerous, in effect attacking Maverick first. Not the move of a true IceMan. Reiterated by Maverick's comment "Thats right Ice.... Man I am dangerous". Maverick knew he had gotten to Iceman, that he had the upper hand.

He was actually threatened by Maverick, becasue Maverick had the raw skill and talent that he had to work so hard for. It was work for Iceman, and fun for Maverick. Maverick was the confident one (although he had a chip on his shoulder related to family baggage). Maverick indicated this when he said something about "having fun" while they were at Top Gun. He wasn't threatened he wasn't insecure he was there for the experience, knowing he would do well. he always did.

IceMan had to try to re assert is fake dominance at the end by trying to put Maverick in his place "You can be my Wingman anytime".

Maverick is the one who had to overcome all the adversity. Iceman was a typical silver platter front runner. Good but not great. And he knew it. So the attitude was a front. An artificial cockiness to over come the inecurities.

So you are a tactician? Sounds to me more like you would like to be a tactician.

That was some damn good writing man!!! :D :D

Seriously, I didn't think you had it in you. Best post I've seen from you ever. I think I'd like to invite you onto my Top Gun committee. That being said, we really should stop this side talk. I need to get this damn thread finished.

Cheers!

In real life or as one of the movie's characters?

Don't worry, I'll be giving you a few hints in the next little while. I'm working on a post called "My Dream Girl - Does she exist?"

What is your fascination with me anyways? Are you a closet homosexual? Sorry, but Mav does not swing both ways. I'm 99% straight.

Nothing to do with you

I am just curious about Lady M's opinions.

I am 100% percent straight.

Your facination with the movie Top Gun and past references to the WWE (sweaty oily men in speedos rubbing up against each other) indicate that you are more likely only 75% straight.

You ad that to your CULK story and you might be more like 60%. You referenced her as being very ugly and according to your MARS scale the would make her below the "definitely a woman" boundry. So you basically let a potential guy in your vehicle. Were you hoping you would get to kneel and bob or something?

Mav is a sweet guy who sometimes gets carried away with his opinions without actually thinking them through. He means well with his Texas sized heart. He wants everybody to be happy and we all strive for that and he plays guardian angel when he feels it's needed, you'd never know he was present but somehow he's worked his magic. Mav is one of those people who would drop everything in order to help you. He loves to learn and will go about it in the most unconventional ways to learn whtever it is.

Straight as a laser.

Some of the Straightest

Sometimes a straight line can actually be really crooked depending on the stituation.

Look at it through water, or draw a straight line on a piece of paper and then make the paper into a roll, all of a sudden it is a circle.

Shine a laser through a prism and you have lots of angles etc. Maybe there are more sides to the Mav man.

I will agree that Mav shows a certain insecurity with his desire to be liked. Almost a naivety that is refreshing.
