I am sure GM's of the player receivers' of Marchand's love have been asking the Rules and Refereeing what call will be made to stop this type of behaviour. Clearly they didn't and the lack of Gross Misconduct would have worked. They could rework the Head Butt, Biting rule and add licking/kissing too I suppose. I think they are all 5 minute majors with Misconducts thrown in most times.
The rules didn’t need to be re-worked, there is a rule in place that would have dealt with this idiot - Rule 75.4 (iii), “Any player who persists in any course of conduct designed to incite an opponent into incurring a penalty,” - which means the refs could could have handed out 2/5/10-minute misconduct penalties, they just chose not too! It’s like they turn a blind eye when it comes to this moron!
