Hey,

Drove by Mae’s today and noticed all of their signs are down. Also no response by phone. I am thinking this is due to Covid, but does anyone have any intel? Thanks.

I was told that someone reported them to the cops for offering extras. The cops came and much hullabaloo ensued... but no charges. The end result was that the landlord asked her to take down the signs, but apparently they haven’t closed. I haven’t phoned to confirm.
PS. I got this info from a Thai masseuse whom I know. Possibly just rumours, as I don’t know her sources.

Mae was sick of running the business. The Lease expired at the end of March or April. I can't remember which. She did not need the cash and decided to close the business. There was too much competition, too much drama, and too hard to recruit new employees.

I must confess that the closing of Mae’s is kind of a bummer. Over the years, I’d visited all 3 locations: first downtown, then Quadra, finally Hillside. I must say, the odd apartment on Hillside was my favourite; it was like visiting someone not patronizing a business. I have had countless massages at Mae’s, seen many, many different providers, even Mae herself. I’ll miss it.

Just before this placed closed, there was a girl named B (Bee?) working there but only on certain evenings. She didn't offer extras but was, in my opinion quite good with her indirect teasing. Wouldn't mind if she resurfaced somewhere.
