Luongo or Brodeur...

Keep in mind - Ryan Miller was stopping shots that he couldn't even see.

USA was clearly playing "bend but don't break", especially in their own zone, and to their credit, capitalized well on their few chances. TSN guys said it was the perfect road game, and I have to agree.

Without an absolutely unconscious goaltender, Canada would likely have won walking away.

Broduer clearly wasn't as sharp as we're used to seeing, though. Luongo starts next game for sure, and then every game after that.

The vets on D better pull their heads out of their asses, and fast - Pronger, Niedermayer, that means you.

if you want to get to the nitty gritty of this all, just read post #1 of this thread...

a couple of other things...

besides me, BJhunter is one of the most astute hockey minds on this board...

that said we will have to agree to disagree on Luongo...

he is an effing egotistical crybaby, who has the emotional sophistication of a three year-old, but he is simply the best goaltender in hockey...

reminds me of a certain golfer...

but I digress...

we often hear the lament, what has Luongo won...

aside from the 2004 World Cup, nothing...

but look at the teams he has played for...

to compare his teams to Brodeur's, is a joke...

in his prime, Brodeur had Niedermayer and Stevens playing in front of him, two Norris trophy caliber defencemen...

who has Luongo got, a bunch of overrated bums...

BTW, did anybody know who Mitchell was in this dumbass hockey town before he became a Canuck...

when he became a Canuck in Stupidcouver, he morphed into a Norris trophy candidate...

Canucks wouldn't get a sniff of the playoffs without Luongo...

I apologize for the length of this post, as i didn't have enough time to make it shorter...

couldn`t agree more with your observation on Bobby Lu.
your arguments are valid regarding Brodeurs past teams.
BL would have had a couple of SC`s by now…hence my argument
to have started Luongo today. it`s time Marty step down and let
the best goalie in the world start.

and fuck Prongo and Niedermayer! blame these two escargots for the outcome–
which is what I stated on another thread titled Men`s Ice Hockey: Gold Medal

https://perb.cc/vbulletin/showthread.php?125078-Men-s-Ice-Hockey-Gold-Medal-!/page2

let`s just say we played with 3 defensemen (at best) through these prelims.
Phaneuf, Mitchell and Jovo would have been a better selection…speed and toughness.
Pronger and Niedermayer couldn`t handle the speed that was coming to them.

okay, let the criticism begin!

Unfortunately the best goalie in the world is on Team U.S.A.

most people lose you after Dick, Jane and Spot...

you get off on watching cauliflower eared steroid monkeys 69 each other for 15 minutes...

Puff, go clean your room and tidy up your stuffed animals...

They are steroid tested, so your statement is worthless. Just because you don't have the drive or passion to get into a gym and workout, don't hate. That's right huny, see through the hate. Afterall, you have only yourself to blame for the pathetic existence you have. Good news is, you can always go for a ride on your 10 speed, the weather is lovely.

Even though I was pleased with the result of the game, at the same time I was disappointed for you guys. Hockey means so much to all of you and I respect that. On the other hand, interest in most of the US in hockey is virtually non-existent.

To make this point clearer, somebody mentioned that NBC does nothing live in prime time. But, let me add to that and say that the network saw so little value in this game that they not only did not show it in prime time, they did not show it on NBC. Where I am and I suspect everywhere in the US, the game was shown on one of NBC'c cable affiliates, MSNBC. That shuts out many viewers. NBC did not even see fit to air the game in prime time on a delayed basis.

But to the poster who stated that the US was not good except for having Mller in goal, allow me to point out that on my last trip to see the Canucks a few months ago, the game is still 6 on 6, not 5 on 6. No question that the battle of the goalies was won by the US.

As I was watching the game I kept thinking Luongo was about to come in, but it never happened. That is where the game was won, or lost. However, if these teams meet again, I believe there will be smiles on your guys faces at the end.

Another f in genius on perb.
what the hell are you talking about...

the general consensus amongst hockey insiders was that Brodeur would be their goaltender...

I was one of the few who got it right...

quit practicing revisionist history...

You really are an idiot jerkoff. The poster I quoted is another one of those birthright Canadians that because of their birth country feel they know hockey. NOT.

Anyone in their right mind that could post that the only way Louie was going to see action in the Gold medal game was by tying Brodeurs skates is seriously ignorant about hockey, kind of like you.

Luongo still sucks

The way this guy chokes with 2 softies against the Slovaks, Louie won't make a difference. Why? In a good way of course. Canada will win, just like against Germany, russia, & Slovakia WITHOUT Louie doing ANYTHING. Never needed to steal a game like Miller.
