I think I wrote this up using man-hours of billable time. For 4 to 15 hours work a week, depending on rate, a escort could make 50,000 to 360,000 a year (260-500, not including extras, assuming they work every week for a year). Usually a cash business. In Victoria at 2 agencies the min rate for 1 hour is 280/310. Some agencies escort are charging 400 to 500, not including extras.
So the min manhours of 4, corresponds to 1/2 day for normal folks, and 15 hours corresponds to just over 2 days a week. Considering the avg work week is 40 hours.

So take a 10 hour work week at 300/hour. That about 156,000/year (again working for 1 year, but only a 10 hour work week- aprox 1/4 time of avg adult). Mostly cash business. Now how much do you declare? up to 100,000 and hide the rest. That would be 50,000 tax free for a year at only 10 hour of work in 1 year. Pay only 20.5% in income tax. This dosen't include extras.

Tax RateTax BracketsTaxable Income
15%on the first $50,197$50,197
20.5%on the next $50,195$50,197 up to $100,392
26%on the next $55,233$100,392 up to $155,625
29%on the next $66,083$155,625 up to $221,708
33%on the portion over $221,708$221,708 and up

Just playing with some numbers. Remember that the avg Canadian family income is approx 76, 000 dollars.

The moral of this is that an escort can work 10 hours a week and make 2 X the avg family income. And pay whatever tax rate she chooses due to the cash income. And can take home 50,000 in tax free earnings.... and only pay 20.5% in taxes on income.... up to 100,000.

So it pays to advertise as low volume. And know how to hide that 50,000. (under 100,000 - max out tax free saving and rsp declared under tax income, then down payments for apartments if the market is good). Start a part time business (art, crafts etc). This won't work if you have declared more (over 100,000 ) in the past. Covid as an excuse. What about an only fans account?

Great business...

PS I left out expenses.

Disclaimer, yup all speculation.......
I'm more curious as to why you care and spend so much time breaking down how much we make/potentially make. Are you looking into joining the Business?

Do you think we have it easy? Do you realize, like @ExpCharlee mentioned, we literally wake up and work all day, including taking appointments, until we go to bed at night? That's certainly more than a standard 8 hour workday. Plus some of us also have a civilian job on top of this as well. It's a business, we make as much as we put into it. We don't just work 10 hours a month and make twice the average family income as easily as you say.

okay you guys. i’ve been told off for calling people names on perb before so i’m not going to do that.

i advertise on perb. the time i spend here is advertising. people read the shit i post, like it, and book me. sadly, one cannot “write off” time. i write off the $1,356 i pay annually to advertise here, yes. the time i spend here is working. that’s right, i am working RIGHT NOW. i am not just having fun on a forum like you are. this is one of many parts of my actual job. if i didn’t post here as much as i do, i wouldn’t get as many bookings as i do from here. peridot.

this is ABSOFUCKINGLUTELY RIDICULOUS. I’ve worked out my hourly pay and I make about $40/h BEFORE expenses. IN BUSY SEASON. WHEN THERE IS NO RECESSION.

here is what i spend most of my time and money on:

-advertising: posting here, bumping ads, running my twitter, working on my website, writing/rewriting ad copy, photoshopping fliers and ads, taking photos of myself
-client retention: interacting with clients i’ve seen on twitter, messaging clients i haven’t heard from for a while, showing off gifts clients have got me, responding to reviews, ensuring people aren’t talking shit about me on here or elsewhere on the internet
-activism and community building: chatting with newer providers, volunteering, doing media interviews, writing to MPs, keeping updated about current laws and decrim progress, etc
-incall upkeep: laundry (SO MUCH LAUNDRY), keeping my home spotless, ensuring i am stocked (with different condom sizes, soaps, lube, doggy bags for used condoms, etc) sterilizing toys, bleaching towels, hand washing expensive lingerie, polishing mirrors, etc
-self upkeep: eating healthy, keeping hair clean and healthy, preparing for sessions (takes over an hour just on myself), working out, sleeping enough, skincare (EXPENSIVE), cosmetic appointments (such as botox, hair, mani/pedis), debrief/self care time after sessions
-marketing: writing ad copy, arranging and attending photo shoots (often involves sourcing new outfits, brushing up on modeling techniques, makeup strategies, etc)

I could honestly go on and on. The idea that we can work 10h a week and make $156,000 is insulting as hell.

I could honestly go on and on. The idea that we can work 10h a week and make $156,000 is insulting as hell.

This - and even MORE - I personally was up working all night (I'm anxious/stressed as hell VID and the recession have been HARD on us all)

Laundry - I hope I can live in a home when I'm old because this - (someone doing laundry for me) would be my dream life as a retiree
ADS - HA - I have 20 providers who pay me to advertise them, edit their photos, build their webpages, write their copy, manage their socials,
plan and pre-pay for their tours,

And because I try to run an ethical agency - I pay customer service credits AND all promo discounts out of my pocket (happy birthday).
The independent contractors I work for can come and go as they please - I had a girl go MIA yesterday (emergency) but all 4 of the calls
I booked - cancelled - no fines, no fees, nothing for my work - just scream at the wall and apologize give customer service credits - because that's all you can do...

Then there is the phone answering, the verification, the customers with a million questions - weeding out all the crap dushe bags, so I can present
quality leads to the providers who invest in hiring me to do so. On top of that, I've spent the last 4 years building a platform to plug all
independent and turn key pros to give them access to their own 24/7 real-time scheduling/booking app and access to my 20 years of client data.
Ohhhh - and I blog , and try to inspire and share stories, wiki and started going around tagging all the businesses in my town with red umbrella stickers
to show others in our community this business is supportive of our community (so if you see one - go spend $$ there please)

I haven't had a day off or a real holiday in 10 years - I had one booked (to the states) last year - but I got stopped at the border told not to
come back because im "basically a pimp" - this was my own stupidity - I set up a go fund me for the providers at the start of VID
(all the money was given to them - and none to me, I just took out more loans to keep the business alive)

YES, we are a luxury service, but .. as Charlie said so much better than my ramble - SHE WORKS HARD FOR THE MONEY.

Now go support your fav pro - even if it's just a text of appreciation - because I know they are what keep me going some days.\

oooh and I spent a good 90 min at 3am cleaning up after an EXTRA DUSHE BAG who is intent on trying to hurt someone -
Thanks to the MOD team here - I've seen a HUGE improvement since the last time I was active on PERB and Im digging it & appreciate YOUR hard work...

Been enough explanation from Charlee and others but look at it this way…

Do you have any what a small biz or sole proprietor make? Just because you see the MSRP does now mean you have any idea how much is taken home. All small biz have inherent advantages come tax time and should use them to their fullest ability. If that irks you from a take home salary point go start one it’s fun, let us know about your blood pressure 6 months in.
I’m in a good paying job, I run a small biz (consulting on the side) and am starting a new venture with a colleague. It’s a hustle and takes time, you think about work, you do things for work that don’t look like work, and your structure your life around it all to manage it. Sex workers are no different and their responsibilities are no different.

Why don’t you ask others what they take home? I’m sure you’ll be surprised.

Or even better don’t ask cuz it’s none of your business, and don’t speculate cuz you have no clue what you’re talking about 🤷🏼‍♀️

300/hour x 10 hour/week x 52 weeks/year = 156,000.00 /year before taxes. Then come expenses.

I see no comments on ripping of the taxman because its a cash business.... wonder why

PS I see the Troll Management Team (HSFUMODSASS) made some comments

Props to you, I'm not comparing but even as a tradesman people think we print money, any small business is a grind, tons of hours and expenses, you left the giant asspain of hst remittance off your list , ugh.

i use hello fresh because i legit don’t have time or energy to plan meals and shop. i work from home to save money (no way could i afford a separate incall), and for appearances i have to have a decent apartment (mine is just a studio, though; nothing too flashy). it has to be central for work reasons too, the extra cost of rent downtown is more than offset by how much busier it is. i order takeout only once a week on Saturdays as a treat, and occasionally other days if a client sends me a doordash gift card. I don’t eat out unless it’s for work, which is obviously paid for. I wouldn’t say my lifestyle is decadent at all. I even work out at home, I have a half rack and weights I bought during the pandemic. I don‘t drink or do drugs, I go to bed at 10pm. I buy my clothes second hand. The only thing that’s superfluous that I spend money on is my plant collection and my streaming subscriptions.

Class pageantry is a thing. Stop being judgmental. You don’t know anything about us.

I am simply grateful that so many lovely ladies have taken on the profession and served the clientele so well over the years (yes, not every session or every individual is a star provider). My preference is that they do well financially and emotionally so that the industry attracts quality individuals. From what I have read and from ladies I have spoken to over time, working at a job that society largely disapproves of at best and where you might feel it necessary to hide from friends and loved ones, can be highly stressful.

Trying to put an economic value on all the potential physical and emotional costs, let alone the financial outlay, seems a fool's errand.

Let me finish where I began, I am grateful the industry exists, and I don't begrudge anyone who is successful and earns the most they can from delivering what I have found to be great value.
