Forget the fantasy of $10million. Why???
Here's some reality, single winning LottoMax ticket in Richmond of ...wait for it $60million. Now try to wrap your head around on spending that.

Still not claimed yet, any you bastards sitting on that, please standup!?!
Because, in my opinion, $10M is the new $1M. Back in the day winning $1M could get you a fuck load, not so much anymore especially if you want to stay in Vancouver. I also think that you have to smarter with how you'd spend $10M vs $60M. With winning $60M, I think the challenge would be self-control. It may easier to spend it recklessly with a belief that it's SO much money, "this will last til I die!"when the fact of the matter is, people end up in worse situations AFTER they win the lottery than before they won it. Doesn't stop me from wanting to win it though and continue planning for the big W! lol

I think you are absolutely right. $1M is nice, but most people aren't retiring with a million. For those motivated and lucky it will set up a small business for a person to run. $10M most people could quit there job today and with careful planning live quite comfortably. With careless spending $10M isn't that tough to burn through. $60M is a different game. At $10M you really have to be careful to not spend much of the original $10M; it's really investment money. AT $60M there is a lot of play money as well.

I have a list of cars I would get, Then I need a big garage with several lifts to put them in. Then a small condo in say Port Angeles, so I can license a cpl of the British sports cars I can't import into Canada. I would buy both properties on each side of me and house my family (kids) in them. Buy an apartment complex someplace on Southern Vancouver Island. Rent out a few of the units to my fave SPs for a bartered deal. The remainder in investments.

Assuming that my neighbours don't know about my win, I'd stash the cash in a savings account for at least a couple of years to see how all the added financial security affects me amongst everybody.

Idiots like that have no fathom about wealth. In most cases they were dirt poor living total skint. And when they came into that money ....well they just got plain stupid not mention had a bunch of leaches latch on to them.

As I have said but with more detail.....should I win the lotto....show up and claim it.For the photo wear hat/sunglasses and be obscure.Get the cheque and move the money off shore.Go on a vacation and relax and figure out what you want.

If a person is both dirt poor and buying lotto tickets, it's already a sign they aren't necessarily capable of the most sound financial decisions.

10 million is a modest amount this day and age.

I'd probably still be working, but living debt free, in a better house, and maybe on occasion spend a weekend in Amsterdam to see rock concert just for fun.

I think walking around being independently wealthy, but still doing the rat-race is probably more rewarding than just quitting everything and buying bullshit bling.

In my line of work, they call these type of people in the "Fuck You Club", normally it's for soon-to-retire people who don't give a fuck about their workplace stature, so if the boss is up their ass they can say "fuck you" and walk, after disruption operations for a while. They can retire and not think twice about it. But a person my age with a few decades left, suddenly winning that much money. I'd just enter into the "fuck you club" earlier than most, walking around untouchable for the next 20 years. True personal freedom in the face of institutions that take away such freedom.

Anyone can fantasize about winning a lottery, that is the fun of lotteries. But what are the chances of winning? $10,000,000 prize requires at least 1,000,000 tickets at $10 per ticket plus the cost of running the lottery. Imagine a corn field. There are approximately 30,000 plants per acre or 1,000,000+ plants in 34 acres. Imagine that one of those corn plants is worth $10,000,000. If you buy a ticket you have one chance to pick the correct corn field and then to pick the right plant to claim the $10,000,000. The chances of winning are less than nil.

The odds for 649 and max are between 1/20M and 1/30M. Nil or not, people do win millions every week or two.

The odds of winning 6/49 are exactly 1 in 13,983,816.

That's 49x48x47x46x45x44 divided by 6x5x4x3x2x1.
Thank you professor. I thought I recalled it being closer to 1 in 20 million. Now do lotto max( pretty sure it’s close to 1in 30 million) I’m guessing it would be the same approximate formula but go down to 43 and start at 7.

Instead of looking at hard numbers and knowing it’s 99.99% impossible to win. I still have no problem casually buying a ticket on that 0.01% off chance of winning big..... however, it’s the freaks that spend $100 more a week for that extra fraction of a chance to win. Realizing their chances of winning are no different than that single ticket.

Really the difference between 1 in 14,000,000 and 1 in 20,000,000 is trivial.

Buy one and hope for the best, it's a cheap thrill.

I’ve read this a few times on Perb and set up an account. I gotta agree the ladies I’ve met are really hot and the sex is too.

There are a lot of time wasters who will keep messaging without confirming to meet, foreign accounts who are looking for a sponsor leading to citizenship and some who I guess are lonely and want to chat.

Also a fair number of escorts I’ve met are on there too.

Cause I'm an asshole, I would pay off 5 of my friends (1 person ) mortgages with the fact that they would have to pay the same amount (I gave them- 1 person) to someone else (family or friend- 2nd person) to the full amount of the money that came to him; to help pay off other peoples' mortgages! The 2nd person helps to pay off other mortgages to how much they received. No interest, just principle. If the 1 person only pays off so much he helps pay off his debt(money used to pay off his mortgage) to other people to the full amount of the money he received....
Yah everyone enjoys receiving a gift with a contract attached to it.

Too each their own.

Personally, I’d get more enjoyment seeing how they used their gift.

The one guy I’ve known for decades who won a major prize impressed me a lot. He bought a number of properties and built the spec houses for his kids. They lived in the houses the minimum amount of time for tax reasons and flipped them for profits and pooled most of the gains in a family trust. With the recent boom their gains are hopefully enough for all of the grandchildren to own houses too.

Lotto Max goes to 50, so it's 50x...x44 divided by 7x...x1 but then you get 3 sets for the one buy, so that's 3 in 99,884,400 or equivalently 1 in 33,294,800. So you're about 2.4x more likely to win 6/49 vs. Max.

But that's the thing. It's not 0.01%. It's 0.000007%. :)

FIRST THING would be to have a great week long vacation in the Bahamas on a private (modest) yacht where I would hire Ararbelle, Adahlia Cole & Gemma Song from the Bay Area.

Then responsible things yknow like buy a house, buy my brother a better car, some Gucci purses. :)

The big lotteries are just an extreme form of gambling (in that your chances of winning are nearly 0, but the potential reward is huge). You're throwing money away for entertainment. It's not for me, but if it makes you feel good and you're not doing it instead of feeding your kids or something, go for it. And yeah someone wins. Not you, but someone. I'm sure they enjoyed your contribution.
