That is really interesting. The wit and quality of the writing is so much greater than almost anything you can find today. That must qualify as one of the greatest "fuck you" responses ever.

I enjoy the history of North America and found it interesting that a number of former slaves made it all the way to Salt Spring Island back in the day. It is not unusual to see some of their relatives in the town on any given day.
