The basic (primal) Human Right of buying sexual services has never been illegal in the entire history of Canada.
- Are we going to lay down and let the Harper Government change this and trample all over us ?

Lets get organized so we can help change this unjust proposed law and finally defend our #Rights once and for all !

No need to admit to ever buying a sexual service, only that you (& others) should have a - right - to do so if you wish.
- If we do nothing then we can not complain about the result. It is time to "Stand-Up" for our RIGHTS !!!

I read the material at the link posted, and still trying to absorb it all, but from what I read, it is seriously in doubt if the sale of sex can be prevented between any two of age consenting adults. Pierre Elliott Trudeau once said the nation has no business in the bedrooms of the nation, and barring under age or force etc, the government should keep the hell out.

The act as I read it seems to deem the sale of sex as relating to any gain, which would make just about every one illegal. Afterall, kissing is sex in some people's eyes, and so you take your date to Dairy Queen for an ice cream and get a good night kiss, and you are now a criminal. You take your gal out for supper and have sex after, she got supper, you got screwed, she gained, that make you a criminal. This thing would not stop the sale of sex, it will just move payment into another dimension. And how would the police prove you had sex. Well it says they can take the steps needed to get biological evidence. So does that mean they can order your girl friend to the hospital for a vaginal swab and you to jack off.

This whole thing is beginning to sound like a horror movie of tremendous supression. Sex as illegal is not far off.

A couple of questions:

Is this a thinly veiled attempt for future Political gain? You have included in your signature data that makes me suspicious of the end game. Your limited number of posts on Perb further solidifies my suspicions.

I too tried to rally the troops to get together, albeit as a group of Pooners here with a good posting history. Is your Google group going to have an open forum for all to contribute? I don't want to log on with my gmail which gives up my real name.

Yes, the #hashtags are for Twitter - see my postings @bcsafe on twitter - including to @MinPeterMacKay

The mods deleted my history when they did not like me discussing a pay for access venue listing I was running which they considering advertising.... I even tried to buy advertizing space but Fred Zed would not respond.... But, now that that is "history" and I have disclosed my identity - I do not mind. The "Health Nurse" also knows me or at least ones I have talked to and met over the years, and I have conducted work for the BC Government as a contractor (not related to this issue I might add).

I am not seeking political gain here, as a matter of fact disclosing my position on this topic could not only destroy any political ambitions I might have, it could also destroy my employment and business career, not to mention my - reputation.

I just happen to believe that the issues are worth it, and I am happy to see that some of you agree and are joining my group.

Thanks,
Rick

Yes, lets help - the service providers - change the law.

They are the people who have to spearhead it nobody is going to take us seriously.

For some facts on what the communication laws have done have a look at John Lowman's research.

He's also a wildlife photographer.

I would say the biggest problem is that Canadians have been misinformed by the press. I've had conversations with people about prostitution where they genuinely think every worker is a 17 year old runaway. The most common misperception is that it is illegal - even academics think its illegal. Sex workers need to talk about their experience so people can understand what it is that they do and why it is worth continuining to do.

I don't think the "its always been happening so there is no point in criminalizing it" argument works. There has to be some social benefit to it. I know it has made a huge difference in my life but I don't think most workers really understand what a profound impact they are having on people. If more did more would more vocal about it.

The culture of shame is what allows abolitionists to flourish and the only way around that is to stop being ashamed.

A better solution would be that the SP's that the conservative MP's have been seeing should step forward and out them.
