the thing is, what's good for business is keeping the general membership happy. If the people who view and post become unhappy with a site, they will go else where. Look at what has already happened. People will start up their own sites. Then what? What good is having happy advertisers if there is noone to see their ads? Money cannot be the only thing driving a decision, although to often it is.

Creating these kinds of bulletin boards is easy and costs virtually nothing. I'll bet someone will do it soon. There are also newsgroups where this sort of stuff can be posted.Chief Wiggum said:

Unfortunately it doesn't take much to piss off a Mod, so it seems. Everyone agreed that the thread was civil and people who took time to post made thoughtful and useful comments.
I don't make the effort to speak civilly, write thoughtfully, only to live in fear of pissing off someone. If that is the case, I have no one to blame for it but them and certainly not myself.
There is a business case for this board, and if the owner sees fit to utilise volunteers to moderate, then I would suggest they find ones who are better suited to protect the business interests of the owners.

The problem as I see it is that a popular thread was suddenly gone, with not a word being said. Why not just post a thread saying that it is going in for review/repair? Just a thought. Is there some way you could lock everyone out of a thread that is under review so people know it's there but can't get in until you've done whatever? You could give it a special icon or something. Just a thought. It's not the first time I've seen people get all excited when a thread disappeared. Sometimes they don't come back. Anyway, thanks mods for all your underappreciated hard work.
