If they went to white listing, sure. But things like this are just not that important and black listing IP's only works on the short time. I've got a lot of faith in the counter-tech crowd. The biggest mistake any Canadian site can make under the Cloud Act is touching a US citizen or US economy in any way. If the FBI can prove your site is involved in their definition of “trafficking” of one of it’s citizens, it would provide US State Attorneys grounds to use the Cloud Act to seize a Canadian site.

Seriously, why make that law that way, couldn't they amend a previous law on trafficking to deal with it. Is there something else going on, that is not on the surface. If you are going to make a law, you make the law to deal with the problem at hand, define its parameters. Not give it some general, far reaching, unpredictable reach. Maybe that was the intention. The problem is now every T, D and H in law enforcement can use to fight for their own personal agenda and that is scary....

With restriction, servers can block or slow information down. To get around this, I'm sure the servers will give access for a fee. The limiting of the information is so that the people owning the servers can make money... or put up their own agenda and limit people's agenda..

We are very quickly losing freedom to communicate over the internet as we wish. The governments are taking control. We will be free to view fake news and trivia as long as it doesn't threaten the people who control things but do anything significant to threaten them and if they can't use existing laws to shut you down they will make new laws. At least that is what happened with FOSTA/SESTA.
