my lawyer is also my executor: he will 'claim' 10% of my estate as theAnita's Massage said:Sorry for bringing up an old thread, but I didn't want to start a new one.
My question is, what do you do if you have no relatives in Canada and can't think of anybody you could ask to be your executor, but want to leave everything you have to charity? (As opposed to an estranged sister and distant relatives you've never seen back in Europe)
executor fees.
if all you have is going to ONE charity, then name them the executors ... they
will do the same thing, get a lawyer to handle the details and take the rest.
when you write the Will, do NOT mention the 'family' in it in any way ...
if you think you want to leave them a dollar just to spite them, then they
can contest the Will and could take the assets.
