how do i stop windows media player which i removed from my computer to stop popping up everytime i try to watch a clip on line????

i use firefox and can't find anything that simply says 'use this media player not that fucking shit from bill gates"

i think it was 10 but don't know because i deleted the whole mess ...

Make sure mozilla.exe is not found in registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\ShimInclusionList

Also, from within Mozilla you can remove plugins available to Mozilla that refer to Media Player.
In Mozilla go to Tools>Options>Downloads>Mozilla

This will force a download prompt as opposed to an autolaunch from the browser.

If your local system filetypes still direct to media player via the extension calls, go into Folder Options in Windows explorer (not Internet explorer) then the File Types tab.

Delete the said extrensions from pointing to Media Player.
The next time a call is made to the system for that extension, Windows will prompt you to enter what application should open that file type.
Select your Video Player of choice and check the always use option.

at this point nothing ... tried real player and got nothing but ads ...

You might have to re-install the latest version of Windows Media Player, just so you can overwrite the old version and then select the uninstall option.

HelloKitten knows a thing or two about computers.
