Good job CBC - Marketplace had reported some of Subway's poultry products only contained 50% chicken DNA
Interesting read....
Subway is obviously disagreeing with the test results, and claiming for lost sales of these products. They hired KPMG to evaluate lost sales, who claimed to be around $52.3 Million for the US and $1.5 Million for Canada. CBS estimated Market place's story had some 858,000 viewers, but the story resulted in an extraordinary 3 Billion imprints for every possible source.

They mentioned the story was reported in among other places, USA Today, New York Post, Brietbart News and .......... Perez Hilton.... There was also a Joke on Saturday Night Live!

It didn't help Subway's cause for lost sales that on a conference call to thier Franchaises 2 weeks after the live broadcast in Canada, Subway's rep saying there was probably a little impact in Canada but maybe also due to bad weather, while no noticeable impact on sales in the USA...

Interesting what gets presented in a court case like this... Heck I like Subway and even order 1 of the subs in the story from time to time, but Yes Good Job CBC!

Beverly Hills. In the Kitchen eatin' vittles.
Subway is crap! Unfortunately Subway has fallen victim to the same tragedy as Tim Horton's and others.
Start out as a good idea with decent food made from quality ingredients. Become successful then are bought up by a large US Company who start to fuck around with the menu, ingredients, food prep methods, etc and they just become another shitty fast food place like MC D's, Burger King, etc...

Cheers

Attended a Subway restaurant a couple of weeks ago. Ordered "everything" and watched delicious egg salad go into a foot long 9-grain bun that I wouldn't find anywhere else. Don't know about the charge against meat used. I didn't have any. Meat and dairy in Canada is government inspected and all the same as far as I know and wouldn't be available otherwise. That was the second time that I visited that particular Subway. The previous time was about 5 years ago and I got the same delicious foot long with "everything". No change in quality after 5 years. Ate Subway in Kitsilano, West Georgia Street, New Westminster, Calgary, Madrid, Lisbon. Medium size drink a bit expensive but other than that no problem.

I think their offerings are just a reflection of the consumers - most people are willing to accept poor quality crap. Food is functional in North America - if it fills your stomach then OK. Preferably in large quantities.

Can't argue with you there. My ex-In-Laws are a perfect example. Their idea of a good restaurant was always based on portion size. LOL!

Listen you guys, I buy fresh produce twice week, prepared by myself and eaten 3 times a day plus fruit snacks. Nothing wrong that I've ever seen with what goes into Subway sandwichs. Get courtious service too.
