Update to previous old post: https://perb.cc/xenforo/threads/jessica-kane…some-charges-stayed.346078/

As per the article, she has pled guilty to Theft. admitted to stealing just over $92,000 and a cellphone from six men.

The victims were vulnerable because they were highly intoxicated, Crown prosecutors alleged.

Kane was initially charged with drugging her clients and robbing them, along with a charge of manslaughter. Those charges have been stayed.

Unfortunate for the victim who died during his interaction with her. No reasons given by Crown as to why those other charges were dropped but likely due to lack of evidence or victims unwilling to testify.

Defence is asking for time served given she was remanded to custody for 23 months. Also asking for a conditional discharge which I find ridiculous.

Fucking kills someone and gets away with it?
WTF 🤬

Drugging her victims should have been an assault charge at the very least.

I hope her buddies she stole 400k from find her. I bet…GUARANTEE… she’s made a deal and given the Crown info about them. In exchange for staying charges and new identity so she can hide from them.
Fortunately her pictures are everywhere and she’s an idiot.

Again, just goes to show how pathetic our justice system

Some people r just the scum of the earth and deserve whatever bad luck comes her way

Wouldn't be surprised if she strikes again somewhere down the rd

I think because it's illegal to purchase sex in Canada, harsher charges like manslaughter would be harder for the prosecutor to get a successful prosecution. The defense would use "It's illegal to purchase sex in Canada".

Ask yourself one question;

“If a man did this, what would the courts do?”
Yes, but there would be no shortage of people victim blaming and making it about how women should wear more clothes...etc at this point people are relatively sympathetic towards the victims and no shortage of people calling for death penalty to be brought back to deal with the likes of Ms Kane.

Note that she continued to commit crimes while on bail.
She only went to jail after several more offences…while she was on bail.
There is no way she is not going to re offend.
If a man did this he would be declared a dangerous offender and locked up for life.

This case and everyone involved is crooked as fuck.

The public perhaps, but my statement was what would the courts do.

fuck man.....so fucked up.....

i just don't understand....is the arguement she called an ambulance therefore there was no intent? she tried to save him so didn't kill him per seh? administering a noxious substance for the purpose of committing a crime is illegal....the fact that a man died should be an aggrevating circumstance....wtf is wrong with crown....

Who knows it would depend on the judge, jury, evidence, so many factors. Did you forget Picton had to kill dozens of women before finally being apprehended,investigated...etc

Yeah there's a problem for sure, but lawyers are good at getting charges thrown out and discredited if they can be disproven with something so insignificant of a detail.

I believe Picton received the maximum sentence for his actions whereas this woman’s punishment was an extremely light one.

I think we can all agree that the policy enforcement here is in need of some work.

Picton murdered and fed dozens of women to his pigs, and was out of the radar for decades. This bitch didn't even scratch the surface of horrors the Pictons are responsible for.

Glad to hear that I'm not the only one understanding that Dave was also involved, known to be a micromanaging freak with his businesses. He knew about what his little brother was doing if not a participant in that horror himself.

Kane committed crimes while on bail!
The crown released her and ignored her crimes.
They only locked her up because of public pressure.
She has friends in justice or videos of judges and politicians. Something is wrong here.

Of course. No one can be this powerful, and this is why a person in a high position with likely connections of his own can eliminate this problem.

I honestly think this deserves a public inquiry. Who made the decision to release on bail?
I want a name and I want to hear his justification.
Who made the decisions to stay the charges? What were the reasons for staying them?
Why was there no charge of using a noxious substance to overcome resistance? There is surely evidence from autopsy and the killer’s own statement. Calling an ambulance doesn’t absolve her of blame.
This is very clear cut case, and a further charge of manslaughter should have been considered.
