In Japan I was approached and offered "Massagi ?" while walking alone near the center of Shinjuku, but the area was rapidly looking Yakuza territory.
I wasn't looking for anything, and quickly turned around and got out of there...
There was a 2-sided reaction to white guys. Some women wanted you, but mostly "the white guy looking for sex" was considered a cliche, and you were ignored. Especially if you tried too hard...
I was with my Japanese immigrant wife, however, and way to many of her friends and relatives seemed to think I was open game. I got man-handled by many, from a 17 year old to 55 year old (the 17 year old's mom, no less...) One granny even tried to peek into the shower when I stayed at one relative's place. That wasn't too hard to do in the older homes, there's only a curtain.
Group nudity is "normal", and there was curiosity regarding ethnic "equipment size", especially at the onsen, and especially from the older women. A friend's 7 year old daughter wandered between the men's and women's change room talking to each parent, when I was still talking with her dad. She was staring eye-ball to balls...
One future neice-in-law made an offer I didn't refuse, and I got to check out the inside of a love-hotel. An experience all on its own. Cash, through a small locker-door in the wall near the door of the room, for 3 hrs with a very luxurious bed and shower area. But you gotta speak nihongo.
Strange place, really. Affairs are common, everyone is so busy with work and the required work socializing, that it's easy to play. Even here in Vancouver, some of her friends have gotten pretty frisky...
