Okay reading this thread is just so eye opening at how other races perceive EI people (or EI men particularly). Straight up racist comments made by several people. To be clear, I’m not saying that you are a racist, but I’m saying the comments you made had strong racist undertones. Now you are all going to come in and whitesplain to me how it’s not racist (hot tip: you don’t get to decide that).
On the other hand, some very insightful comments by @Bombshellblonde are very appreciated from a provider’s perspective, and also thanks to @laddi_daddi for your very even headed response to some of the stereotypes being thrown around. The way @Asian Fever handles issues like this is also top tier.
Very interesting discussion nonetheless gents! I am EI but have the privilege of “forgetting” how people perceive us, living in an ethnically diverse part of the city (with no major ethnicity being dominant), and my wife is Caucasian and my daughter is mixed, but presents “white”. It’s a different experience from a first gen immigrant wearing a turban and carrying an accent.
