I was expecting more .....donno what but just more push, push, push. and some Light to shine.
but i guess you can't get blood from stones.
The way things are set up now , they could be toast very quickly , if they aren't already.
Tonight is pivitol game.
Seems like torts just got here and has not even had a chance to figure these lame ducks out yet.
If they miss playoffs , (which i think they will) then Gillis has gotta go and go fast.
Gillis has done less than Booth......basically fuk all.
What the fuk does this guy do all day ? Pray Burrows and Booth are going to light it up?
This guys is dumb as a box of rocks !!!

the Sky is Falling the Sky is Falling.

There are too many holes in the dike, we are sinking.

Geezus Goo, do you think they will really make a mid season change at any position whether it be Coach or GM?

They made their bed now they have to lie in it. Any changes will be post season which IMHO will be in early April.

as long as gillis keeps that arena full, his job is safe

the business end is NOT about winning or losing, it's about selling seats

We will become the NHL version of the Chicago Cubs :pound:

Who cares as long as the stadium is full and the beer sales are off the chart ;)

Torts walks out of Gillis's office with others present in rage and takes rest of day off !!!!

I would think Torts would welcome that ????
maybe he walked because Gillis was not pulling that trigger?

What are Canucks fans worried about? Some of these Western teams got off to good starts but we're starting to see it is not sustainable.

Think about it: With only 14 teams in the conference, it means you only have to finish ahead of 6.

Here are the teams I believe will miss the playoffs: Calgary, Edmonton, Nashville and Winnipeg (these 4 are pretty much toast already).

Then there is Dallas (just lost arguably their 2 best D-men long-term this week in Robidas and Daley).

Phoenix (they just aren't that good as evidenced by last night's game).

Minnesota (definitely not as good as the Canucks and only 2 points ahead of Van. as of this writing).

Colorado (does anyone believe they're good enough to maintain there current pace? Oh and they're only 3 points better than Van, albeit with 4 games in hand).

Anaheim (largely a one-line team. I'm not a believer).

Only 'slam-dunks' I see are Chicago, San Jose, St. Louis and Los Angeles. All 4 are big, deep teams who should be able to keep the pace as the long season wears on.

That leaves 4 spots open and the Canucks are plenty good enough to get one of them.

Now could someone make me feel better and give me some reasons why the Rangers will make it in the 16-team Eastern Conference. ;)

I cant see them trading in our own conference so WHO on the east needs a immediate top D man or two , and has a few extra top six forwards kicking about that they will unload?

The Rangers will make it because I want them to!

I’m hoping for some Canuck/Ranger playoff games and a few beer here and there ;)
sorry to rain on your parade LIJ but the only way to see an NYR vs VC playoff is to watch the '94 series.
I'm still hopeful the boys can push for a playoff spot though, but they're in for a dog fight until April.

Nice thought LIJ but after what I witnessed from NYR this weekend I seriously doubt they will hold up their end of the bargain. When it comes to hockey, my new handle is 'Man in Depression'. :violin:

I rest my case, but then again even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in awhile. Canucks fans rejoice at Christmas. Fellow Rangers fans, keep the bags over your heads, this is gonna get worse before it gets better. :deadhorse: :yield: :violin:

Usually, it takes a couple of season to re-adjust when a new coach enters. Torts, I think, is doing a stellar job so far :thumb:

New York Rangers have our coach and Dallas also has a new coach. They are doing worse lol so.... players are adjusting to a different playing style after being under A.V..

Give it a couple of years and then reevalute Torts,
I absolutely disagree.
A new coach makes his biggest positive impact in his first year.

So, which one of youse have goo as your troll account?

I don't care for Torts, but that's more of a coaching philosophy difference than anything. It's not his fault the Canucks are where they are situated. They just aren't good enough. They are exactly who we thought they are: A team that will get in the final playoffs spot and then lose in the first round. The Canucks are essentially the Calgary Flames circa 2006-2009.
They may get in the final playoff spot and lose in the first round to the Hawks, but it's not really fair to equate them with the flames of that vintage.
They are presently eighth in the nhl overall standings (albeit having played more games than most teams).
They've had a tougher schedule since they're in the Pac division.
They have the same number of points as they have had the past two seasons at an equivalent number of games.
Unfortunately, they may be in the toughest division ever.
There are four of six teams on pace to get well over 100 points, including the canucks.

I think Torts is doing a great job , much better than AV and with more intense facial expressions :)
But i think after new years he's gotta go nuts on the Suedeans......they looked like tired seat warmers last night , and have been dogging it allot lately... then Hank hanging around like a seagull to get a empty netter. geeez !!!
Tanev playing better everygame , before we signed him my buddy said he could well develope into a franchise D man .
I would hate to see him go else where......
but , for who???
will be a interesting new year.
