1) Yes I agree with this.1) If they lose out in the first round again, it'd be 3 years in a row with an aging core on the down slope of their career. Management thinking they don't need to change because they'd be four years removed from the Stanley Cup. That is exactly like the Calgary Flames.
2) If they were good, the tougher schedule wouldn't matter as much. Like I said, the Canucks just aren't good enough.
3) That doesn't matter. You've already pointed out that this is a different division from previous years. And it's not about previous year's total, it's about this year's point production.
4) It's far from being the toughest division ever.
5) 100 point seasons aren't that impressive anymore. Most games go into OT, resulting in both teams receiving at least a point. It wasn't long ago that 93 points would have you cruise to a division title. Now, that won't even get you in the playoffs.
However, the flames were 6th in the west when they caught lightning and made the finals.
We were the runaway league leaders in 2011, so I think the management is entitled to more faith in the core of this team.
4) The season's not over so tough to debate this yet, but four of the top ten teams are presently from the pacific. Has this happened before? I don't have time to check.
5) There were ten 100 pt seasons in 2004 and in 2012.
There are four teams in the Pac on pace for over 100. We're on pace for 105 which will be fourth in the Pac.
So are we the equivalent of the flames of 2007?
I don't think so.
