Have been meeting service providers for about a decade and have been successful with meeting them with app numbers, email and an established account in perb or private delights or the older ones.

As you all know, app numbers get reassigned after a few months on non activity so I end up having to change numbers once in a year. But then again, I use my email or my perb account to reverify It was me.

I used to run into few providers who ask for real verification. Bur recently I have come across multiple agencies that also ask for real number verification or to use telegram.

Did something change recently that made providers ansk for real numbers or are there any drawbacks to using real number to verify?

Many SP's state no app numbers so there is that. email ... seems very few really check it on a timely basis but if it works for you, great.
On the topic of real numbers, there has been a pretty vigorous discussion not that long ago about burner phones. If you search for that I am sure you will have all the comments you may want to cover the topic.

Another topic that has been debated with some regularity in the last few years. App numbers are useful when contacting randoms off Leolist, since they like to sometimes reply with death threats.

When contacting a legit SP with PERB ads or a website or clear record of reviews, app numbers can get you screened out or just ignored. You can always get a burner cell instead of using an app. If you are married or in a relationship, this is a very good idea regardless, in the event your SO sees your cell phone bill.
