Is a thoughtful discussion of incel culture possible?

In light of the sentencing of Ontario’s Deandre Anderson to 5 years for uttering threats related to his incel beliefs, perhaps a reasoned discussion about this ideology is due.

Of course it will go down in flames, but before it does, perhaps we can divine some insight into the culture and how to mitigate the hate and misogyny it spews.

What started as a community of men struggling to have relationships with women has turned into a culture that blames women for all of their misfortunes; from lack of a partner, to lack of employment. They seem to long for a time when women were property and little more than chattel. I think most women advocate for the tide raising all boats, but I’m not sure what solution exists other than personal responsibility. There are societal issues (the economy, a growing wealth disparity), but those would require a revolutionary change, so I’m at a loss for how to placate this seemingly growing and radical movement.

I think there are many reasons why someone would subscribe to those beliefs. It's not really a problem, but a symptom of more complex problems. I'd say it works the same way people subscribe to the hardline political beliefs and religious fanaticism.

All of these will rise in periods of economic and societal turbulence. We just have the information age to record it all in real time

By the definition (involuntary), it sets the stage for powerlessness. The response to the feeling of a mans 'advantage' being taken away (or at least marginalized) is all too predictable. When the 'I don't need no man' faction collides with the 'I can't get no woman' group, we get what we deserve.

Mother Nature is undefeated and now women (through technology, education, economics, etc.) have access to the best genes worldwide leaving average Joes literally holding their dicks. Any tiny edge men had has been replaced by either technology or legislation (all the way down to our innate sense of direction, ability to parallel park, and being 'zeroed-out in divorce court :)). If 80%+ of the male population has been defined as undesireable by women, then what/where do these men do/go?

This is IN NO way a defense of all the behaviors and violence spiking in our society and western culture...it's just so predictably sad

I’d assume the bulk of the user base here are probably incels, even if most of them are in denial about it. This is going to be an interesting discussion, full of finger pointing and mental acrobatics. 😂
What?
speak for yourself bucko and don't insult the brotherhood.
FFS what a shit comment.

Why would a society try to placate a group that is obviously fucked up.
You know that kind of philosophy is exactly what fucks things up. Trying to rationalize why some do not understand right and wrong and yes there are absolutes in that topic.
Is this the essence of all the woke shit that has so altered society the collective 'we' kowtow to this crap?

Fringe groups will always flourish in periods of desocialization. Our time and attention span is completely commodified now, so we spend less time around people and more time around images of people. No wonder we have a subculture of men lonely and afraid who project their insecurities on others (esp women and minorities). The only cure is spending more time around actual human beings, as frightening as that may seem to them.

Brotherhood?
The whole bro culture is the funny thing.
Brothers are the guys I served with.
Guys that share information about the sex workers they have seen are just people with a mutual interest.
Not a single person on this board is my brother, nor do I belong to a pooner brotherhood.
Bro this and bro that, maybe a bruh here and there. It just sounds ridiculous.

I wasn’t speaking for myself, i'm not an incel.
Sorry you took my comment so personally. I still stand by what I said: the majority of this site’s user base are probably incels. I'm not saying they're all the misogynistic, woman-hating, abusive types.
I'm just saying that based on the reviews and comments I’ve seen, most of these guys clearly aren’t getting laid outside of paying for it.

I didn't take them personally but more collectively.
Your impression may be what you said but other than the regular trolls, this is not what I consider an incel forum at all.
And I doubt the definition of an incel is someone who is paying for sex.

Incel

noun
noun: incel; plural noun: incels
  1. a member of an online community of young men who consider themselves unable to attract women sexually, typically associated with views that are hostile toward women and men who are sexually active.
"self-identified incels have used the internet to find anonymous support"

I wouldn't dispute this statement.
80% of the male population, should go their own way, acting & deciding for their own individual selves.
Incel sub-culture,is just another herd, for followers.
The fundamental problem with being a follower,is that leaders serve their own interests,at the expense of their followers.
"The man who was accepted by the herd, was the man who surrendered his own individuality.".-Friedrich Nietzsche

Research the teachings of Arturs Schoepenheimer, make your peace with nature, move forward with the inner peace of knowledge & understanding.

« …with views that are hostile toward women and men who are sexually active. »

Simply paying for sex and this ⬆ is a bridge too far. Tricks and johns vary greatly in their stature and circumstance , and surely there are incels amongst us from the brokest and most unfortunate in appearance to wealthy and genetically gifted. But just paying for it whether or not by necessity doesn’t fit the definition of incel.

Exactly, paying for sex isn’t the same as attracting a woman sexually, It's just paying for sexual access.
Incel = involuntarily celibate. Paying for sex is not involuntarily celibate.

Exactly. There are many many reasons why somebody might pay for sex. I have a few clients who only have sex with me, I would not classify them as incels. Seeing a sex worker is convenient and fun and takes the edge off and they’re no longer celibate lol. Thats it.

Some people might not be very good at dating or attracting people out in the wild. But that doesn’t make them an incel

It’s the anger part at not being able to get sex that really makes somebody an incel.

Isn’t pooning a perfectly good remedy for incelibates? They voluntarily pay to not be celibate. Yay providers! You are a cure option for incels!

Pretty much all married men pay for sex too, just the “transactions” look different, and the exit costs are much larger. Lol. So marriage is another path for avoiding incelibacy (at least for a little while). Ugh. 😩

I feel like using escorts as a solution would only work if you're either comfortable with infrequent sex or have a significant amount of money to spend. Its probably more of a bandaid rather than a solution.

Seeing escorts probably wouldn’t satisfy the emotional side of things or provide the sense of being genuinely wanted.
But I guess if they’ve never experienced sex for free, they might not realize what they’re missing.

You might not be an incel, but you are a misogynist dick. You have been banned at least 3 times since you first arrived here, and have a long history of shitposting and treating women like objects and in general being an asshole. Back to the other board for you.
