yes. I know I am late getting this up.
We are basically half way through the season.
They are currently on a 3 week summer break.

What a season it has become!!! The big money teams are having a tough time.
While a few smaller teams and a brand new team are blowing the rest away.
Braun and Red Bull are the top teams so far. Jenson Button is point leader.

Ferrari and Maclean as well as Renault are struggling to catch up.

The off track events are taking away from the racing. It has been a very news worthy year so far. basically a big pissing contest.

Germany is up next. We will see if Vettel can repeat his last performance.
That comes this coming weekend.

Just wondering what has happened to Tsn's coverage. They don't do a half hour warm up show any more.

Germany....

So. here we are. Another interesting race.
At one of the better tracks visited this year.

Mark Weber has a great weekend. wins pole and wins the race.
RedBull are giving Braun GP all they can handle.

Ferrari are starting to make inroads, with a 3rd place finish.

Where was the wonderkid? Lewis Hamilton? Way at the back!!! Just his dumb move at the start put him there.
Renault and Alonso are getting better. We are almost half way through
the season. I think Hungary is next.
I noted that there were very few retirements in the last few races. Teams are getting better at managing the cars.
I would love to try and drive one downtown and over the granville bridge.

later...

And now they're saying this is Kimi's last season. He prefers rally racing to F1. So it looks like Alonso will be moving to Ferrari next year.

Do you think Peter Windsor's new USA based team is going to hire Danica Patrick?

Button is Champion!!!!

Yes. It has been a while since I updated this thread,
With one more race left in the season , at Dubai . All the major awards are done,
Braun GP won the constructors title and Jenson Button won the driving title.
It has been a very intersting and wild year. On track and off track has kept F1 in the news. Both good and bad. There will be more changes next year,
19 races and a return to Canada, Good to see. New teams next year and new rules.
No re-fueling next year for one, the whole race on one tank of gas.
Massa and Alonso will be teamed at Ferrari. Hamilton and new partner Rakionen .

I am looking forward to the last race of this year at Dubai. On a new track. Drivers will be fighting for rides next year.

Abu Dhabi

Looking forward to the upcoming 2009 Formula One Etihad Airways Grand Prix at the Yas Island Marina Circuit on November 1st. The start of Abu Dhabi's worldwide tourism campaign. Hopefully, the Ferrari Theme Park and Warner Bros Theme Park in Yas Island will be finish as well. Dubai's rich neighbor is finally making a big splash. And the cool thing about Abu Dhabi's urban planning is that Vancourites are behind it. :)

Ironhead, I hadn't heard that Kimi was joining McLaren next year. Should be an interesting combo with Hamilton. It will also be interesting to see how Massa and Alonso get along as I've read that Massa believes Alonso was in on the crash antics in Singapore in '08.

As for Brawn and Button, it was a well deserved victory but I don't think they will have much chance next year. I will find it hard to imagine that both McLaren and Ferrari will not be back in top form. Throw in Red Bull and Brawn will be back in fourth.

Although I understand the need for some cost constraints I'm not in favour of many of the changes in F1. The restrictions on the number of engines allotted per year, no re-fueling ( ? ). ban on testing etc, etc has hurt F1 in my opinion.

Kimi is supposedly in negotiations with Toyota.
Button wants to stay with Brawn but only if they pay him the $13 million he was supposed to get this year. Brawn is only offering him the same $5m he actually got, so JB is talking to McLaren.

I hope Todt proves better than Mosley, but only time will tell.
