Radio personality Imus recently said on his radio show the following:

That's some rough girls from Rutgers," Imus said. "Man, they got tattoos ..."
"Some hardcore hos," said McGuirk.
"That's some nappy headed hoes there, I'm going to tell you that,” Imus fired back.

Imus was suspended for two weeks by NBC for making those comments.

Has America matured and will show their disapproval by turning off the Imus show?

Or, is America still a bastion for racism and Imus’ remarks will likely increase his ratings?

Or, is this just a bunch of bullshit and it’s a matter of no harm no foul?

The Republican Party in America has gained and still continues to hold power in the US by sending out messages of subtle and defacto racism. There's a reason why White American Southerners (red states) vote overwhelming for the Republican candidates. It certainly ain't because they love Abe Lincoln.

My bet is that Imus' ratings will increase.

Imus...is one of those guys that sits back...wears the shades...and anything he utters is cool. That's his whole persona. blah.

I remember when Howard Stern broke onto the scene....Imus followed about two? years later...riding that wave. Howie was, of course, much maligned and I admit I was like...who the hell is this? Then I actually was given his book..."Miss America"...omg...what a cool read!....then I saw his movie..."Private Parts"...omg...what a movie! Ranks right up there with Happy Gilmore and Shawshank Redemption.

Howard, at the point, never failed to poke fun at himself. The central theme to his movie was his love for his wife. In spite of all of his shock jockedness...He was truly thankful for her support. He turned shit down in favour of her. Celebrity status can lead to poor decision making...he resisted.

I think he's since divorced and lost my respect from that point of view. This is not a "morals" post of any kind. I'm hardly capable of casting a stone and never would.

My point is only my observation of Imus. He always seemed a Howie pretender wannabe type. And, I think, you should surely be able to carve out your own little niche in this world...imitators are lame. As to whether he has hurt or enhanced his "career"...I would not put money on him having hurt it. I seem to recall that "there is no such thing as bad publicity".

One final observation...Big Basket. His reviews are freaking hilarious. He has his own style and who the hell cannot enjoy reading behind all that.
