Scarcity of rare earth minerals is the bottleneck.
Only so much lithium/cobalt/scandium etc to go around.
Maybe it is more environmentally friendly to buy a second hand Tesla, now the price has really dropped!!
Especially the Model 3 which has had another price drop recently. I would probably wait a little while though because I suspect the used price for a Tesla 3 has not yet bottomed out. Maybe 6 months from now.
What is likely also contributing to the lower used prices for Model 3 Tesla's is the fact that you only need to wait about a month for a new one. People were willing to pay a premium for a used Tesla 3 because they could get it right away rather than waiting half a year for new one. No longer any need to buy a used Model 3 to get one very quickly.
And one more contributing factor to price drop of used Model 3 is hints from Musk that a new Model 3 is on it's way. Can you imagine the price drop if a new Model 3 is released which is better and possibly cheaper than the present model?
