I'm considering my first SP experience. My main concern is getting in trouble with law enforcement. Can anyone provide advice on how to minimize the risk?

At this site there are many discussions on the laws, especially in Canada. Being familiar with them
and following them might be helpful. Depending on the type of "SP experience" you are considering
- such as MP, Independent, Mistress, or SW - certain laws may be more or less applicable. For
example, if you are considering car dates with Street Walkers, you might want to be up on what
rights you and your poon mobile have with respect to police interogations, inspections and such.

the liklihood of you meeting up the law have more to do with your chances of being stopped for a traffic offense...so dont' speed,, be impaired, or on your phone while driving.....etc,

How to avoid jail?

Don't do anything illegal while you're in private, engaging in consensual activity with another adult, for whom you choose to leave a gift in the form of cash.

There is very little you need to worry about if you follow a couple of rules.

Never discuss a sex for sale transaction in public.. which is on the street, in a coffee shop, in a car etc.

Never buy sex from someone younger than 18.

Be aware that bawdy house laws means that incalls can actually be considered illegal-- if the place is causing problems with neighbors due to high traffic, or reports of underage or trafficked girls, you can get caught up in a police raid although this is very rare.

Stick to providers who are well reviewed and there is nothing to worry about.

Good luck, and have fun!!

I'd guess there's always a risk, but it's probably so minimal as to be not a worry. I think IF you happen to be unlucky and present if a MP gets busted, they'll usually just send you on your way. The vice cops aren't retards, they know what's happening in MPs.

BTW, if it is your first time, I'd suggest a massage parlour over CL. The chance of getting ripped off or something worse is a lot higher on CL, and it would suck for your first experience is you getting robbed. I'd stick with MP the first time.

Don't leave you're apartment. You can buy groceries online now.

Do outcalls only. If you don't want an SP in your house/condo, get a hotel room and have her join you there. Outcalls are legal in Canada.

Most reputable incall agencies are never raided. If the cops know the girls are safe, they leave them be. So the risk of getting busted at a well-known, well-reviewed incall location are minimal to almost nil. But for complete legal certaintly, outcalls are the way to go.

Nina's advice is solid. I've quoted this article often in the past, but here it is again: http://www.edmontonpolice.ca/Commun...on/Prostitution/LegalitiesofProstitution.aspx

In a nutshell, prostitution is not illegal in Canada. Pimping is illegal, and solicitation in a public place is illegal. Running a bawdy house (a place with paid sex as its purpose for existence) is illegal, which is why massage parlours are called massage parlours and not brothels. But the reality is that unless the police suspect other, more serious crimes (eg, human trafficking, drug use) are taking place on the premises, they will leave massage parlours alone.

uh...Edmonton.
gawd....love the title to this thread. Caught my eye right away...well, that title plus it was on the top of the forum list when I signed in....but I still would have investigated it further regardless.

Simple answer.....don't get caught. The only difference between the criminal behind bars and you...is..... they got caught. And always remember, the first hour with your criminal lawyer is free. They want that retainer as much as you want to avoid the shit.

I'm off to go break a few laws. I do that daily....well, not daily. But sometimes you gotta do what's right...perhaps not entirely legal. And sharing a glass of wine with one of the fine lasses who inhabit this board....is a law worth breaking.

cheers,

eddie.

I think the point is prostitution is not against the law, therefore nothing to be arrested for.

I don't think an mp is good idea, for a newbie, considering that LE, etc do pop in for inspections on a regular basis, and quite a few have been charged as bawdy houses etc.

I wonder why so many who actively participate in this business still harbour the impression it is illegal in Canada. I wonder why they think they aren't reading about a lot of arrests, stings, etc on here instead of reviews.

dumb question
Do less coke to avoid paranoia? Seriously though, I honestly don't know where the fear factor comes in. Besides, cops have better things to do.... like writing up traffic violations and hunting down the neighbourhood wierdo who sneaks out after dark to masturbate stray dogs. lmao

Use a MP for sure or an Indy with in-calls.
Don't go cruising for SW's-street walkers. That's were you will get caught soliciting and then comes jail.
Speaking from experience?

So far in this thread we have the full spectrum of unsupported opinionated opinions of what
to avoid/beware of:

A. MP's...they get raided on a regular basis. Really? Regularly?

B. SW's...you'll surely get busted. If you're clueless, i guess. A much bigger danger cums from
these SP's and their pimps.

C. Incall...outcall is a sure bet. You may have a point, although this is not an option for many
who have partners or for other reasons.

D. SO's...this is the real enemy with the ball, chains and cuffs around your nutsack. I'm relieved
my slavery of 10 years was abolished back in 2003.

Thanks everyone for the helpful advice. The Edmontonpolice article was especially helpful. I appreciate it!

What I learned is... No soliciting in a public place. Soliciting in private is okay (eg. soliciting in massage rooms or private residences is actually legal, but not in hallways, etc where there is access to the public). Stay away from minors obviously. There is a risk of being caught for just being in a bawdy house (in call locations).

That said, has anyone had an unfortunate experience with law enforcement in this regard? I wonder what the likelihood of running into trouble is.
