I personally don’t know a single person or know anyone that knows anyone who’s been tested positive for Covid 19.

Totally not trying to make light of the situation or anything but just wondering who out there knows anyone that has tested positive for it?

Couple people I work with have been tested because they thought they had symptoms but they’ve all come back negative.

My SIL and one of her children had it with mild symptoms. This was end of March, beginning of April if I remember correctly. She called the number we are support to call out here in Ontario since they didn’t want people just showing up at the hospital.

She was questioned, told she most likely has it, if symptoms get worse to only then go to the hospital. But she was diagnosed without being tested.

She did say it is very different then a normal Flu.

if you count "probably had it" , my gf would be one. Somoene at her work knew someone who tested positive, then this person got sick who is in contact with my gf through work, eventually gf got sick. Had fever, chills, bed-ridden for 3 weeks, weak etc etc. The reason i think it was covid as oppose to a regular flu, we would go for walks toward the end of the 3 weeks at night, and even just the tiniest of incline would leave her breathless and she'd be gasping for air so we would sit down til she felt better before we would head back inside.

I know two deceased and a few presumptive cases who weren’t tested due to mild symptoms back when the threshold was higher. One in his sixties who could have passed for 50 in terms of his energy and fitness level, and a friend of a family member in his 40s. I don’t know much about the second fellow, but apparently he worked excessively.

A neighbours son had it pretty bad in February. Two weeks of shivering and unable to do anything and he’s pretty fit.

One death of an extended family member. Healthy one week and dead the next. It took him quickly.

Thing that bothers me about these two cases is neither had a clue where they might have caught it.

I think I may have had it about 5 weeks ago.

It started with chills and aches for about 12 hours. For a week after that I was more tired than ususal. I work from home so I just took a nap anytime I felt tired. At the end of the week, when I was lying down, my breathing was just a little wheezy, but only for a couple of days. I was never short of breath and I never had a cough.

I exercise a lot and I am generally in good condition, despite being in my 60's, so this may have helped to keep my symptoms to a minimum. Though, since even young healthy people can get very sick and even die from this virus, I suspect that genetics has something to do with it and therefore my minimum symptoms may just have been me winning the dna lottery, and have nothing do to with my fitness level.

^ Similar experience.

Co worker and I both got very sick at the exact same time. We work at an airport so probably exposed to something there.
It was a flu way worse than anything I have ever had. Could not catch my breath, exhausted, and chills. I've had pneumonia and it was basically the same.
First time in my life I actually fainted.
Lasted a week and then slowly recovered.
I almost never get sick, neither does my coworker. His symptoms and duration were identical.

Got sick the Friday before my holidays and had to cancel a trip to Mexico.

Lost one of my highschool buddies to it about 3 weeks ago. He has had respiratory problems for some time now from many years of smoking, and now more recently suffering kidney problems and on dialysis. Covid was the coffin nail.

5 People. I know a lot of people in the States. 2 in Canada and 3 in the states. My work has me in contact with people from all over the world and if I include people I've talked to through work the number is 4 more. Those are acquaintances though.

My uncle in New York had it more than a month ago and recovered.
My cousin-in-law in Edmonton probably had it but couldn’t get tested to confirm. Also recovered.

Beverly Hills. In the Kitchen eatin' vittles.
2 people.

I think my ex-wife had it. According to my daughter, my ex had fever, chills, congested/heavy breathing with a cough. Lasted for a week. Not sure why she didn't get tested but it was in the early stages when the authorities were all over the map with who was getting tested or not. She is fine now.

I also had a friend get it. She works in health care. She was tested and positive. Her symptoms were very minor - mild fever and headache. She told me that if she wasn't a healthcare worked she probably wouldn't even have been tested. She is fine now thankfully.

It would/will be very interesting once this is under control to see if the health authorities roll out antibody testing. I bet there are a lot of people who have had it that either didn't get sick or like many who had symptoms but didn't get tested.

To those of you that have been sick I am happy to hear you are feeling better and my condolences to those who have lost friends and loved ones.

Cheers
J

I was in the Philippines in February and I am sure everyone in my group had it one degree or another but no one was tested. One of our group spent the whole month in bed with a high fever, coughing and generally feeling like shit but refused to go to the hospital. We thought it was just a bad case of the flu. We got back to Canada just as the lock down was starting and all feel fine now.

Covid-19 diagnosis; 0 people although I know a handful of people who thought they had it but all their tests came back negative. Keep in mind there are still regular colds and flus going around.
Suicide attempts; 1 person

I mentioned the suicide attempt because times like these are very hard on people already struggling with mental illness.

I was just advised one of my kids tested positive and is doing two weeks of isolation. Wearing a mask and staying away from large gatherings didn’t seem to matter. Hopefully being in great physical shape will help.

A business colleague of mine tested positive, and made it through just fine...he is in good physical condition, and generally healthy, and he didn’t have a lot of lung problems during isolation.
Another friend in New York wasn’t so fortunate....He left behind a wife and three children.

BBB....I will have a good thought for your kid.

My godson, in his early thirties, on the frontlines. Very sick. Recovered, but still fighting issues, months later. My aunt, unfortunately succumbed. I have been tested twice. So far, so good.

Kudos for mentioning the mental health aspect of all this craziness (pun? maybe lol). As a person living with a TBI since 2012, I have become VERY familiar with just how little we actually know about the human brain. No, I don't know anybody who has contracted COVID-19, but I know plenty who could use someone to talk to.

One cousin in France had it, she still has some breathing issues though. A clients brother in Germany died of it. A high school friends dad died of it and two others who have completely recovered. These were all tested. There are a couple of others who were presumptive but never tested.
