I don't know why the concept of discussion, debate, arguments and different viewpoints is really so hard for you to get that you have to whine everytime. I don't "try to win" anyone. I just provide my own reasons and arguments that support or explain my claims. If you disagree, then spit it out, give us your own arguments but quit whining already. What do you expect? A Thread full of "Oh yes, you're so right", "i totally agree with every last word you said", etc? I'm sure you can find a few of those around..maybe you want to stick to those only? I don't know.

But I fail to see why you always take SUCH offense at my 1) having an opinion that differs from yours and 2) providing my arguments or reasons for them. There's a pretty easy way to deal with opinions you don't agree with: you provide your own arguments to support your opinion and you do your best to find faults with the other person's arguments. If your opinion is well supported by your solid arguments, Whining does not accomplish anything. Not only does it not replace actual arguments, it doesn't have any effect on the other person's argument. It's useless. Completely. Except for attempts at distracting everyone from the huge lack of any argument and making petty attacks against the other person (me), hoping to poison the argument too.

You guys seem to have a real hard time separating criticism and dissent and the idea that "we have it better than xx" or thet "i would appreciate xx so much more". The idea of living in a place that is more democratic than others isn't about being silent because "we have it better". And dissent or criticism doesn't mean one "doesn't appreciate" or any of that blah blah. A democracy is still run by human beings who are not perfect and do not have the same agenda or ideas as you and me. For a democracy to remain one dissent and criticism are necessary, crucial even, to keep those in power in check and accountable. Remaining silent because one is simply satisfied knowing "other people have it worse" is really useless and misguided.

So, back to the thread subject instead of how far can people piss...if the cop just booted the subject in the chest, it may constitute an assault charge, but it really can't be called a beating. Beating usually includes repeated strikes, like how Rodney King (rip) got his ass beat by the LAPD. Bijou has no idea what a police state is, and posting random links to news stories and propaganda. As I told Silky many times (the real Silky) don't believe everything you read on the internet...there is a lot of propaganda out there, and you can tell the difference by the inflammitory language that's used, catch phrases, etc. There's a lot of reporting out there of the news and events that has been coloured to reflect that particular website, broadcaster, source's owner's spin.

So, really, don't insult what people have really endured by calling Canada and subsequent other Western nations police states. Don't demean those who have lost everything, lived and died in real police states.
