OK, another pet peeve of mine is how people ride escalators downtown, specifically those who get on, stand in the middle and treat it as an amusement ride for their fat ass. Is it just me or do lazy escalator riders bother you too?
Not a ride? Why do they move then? Why not a stationary staircase?YES FINALLY.... somebody else who realizes escalators are not a ride!!!
Cause in many places (stores, malls, etc.) stairs are actually not prominently or centrally located. Escalators are always in prominent and easily accessible places, whereas you'd have to walk all over the damn place trying to find the stairwell.WalterMitty said:Can I ask why, if you insist on walking up the escalator, you don't just find a stairwell and walk up the stairs? Save the escalator for those who aren't as physically able to climb up a flight of stairs.

And I am certain I would enjoy that too!Eden said:I just enjoy standing on one with a short skirt on and no panties!!!

point was, some people on the escalator may not be able to walk up, or at least not as fast. Agree that these people should step aside, but many escalators are not that wide to allow you to pass.
so everyone just relax...you are probably only gonna be set back by 3-4 seconds by waiting. And I don't think "riding" the escalator is any more lazy than "walking" the escalator...not sure how much work it really is to walk up one of them.

Just having you on a bit too. It is true that when I left Toronto I also had to adjust to a new escalator etiquette ... where it is much less agressive and you're expected to actually stand on the escalator. Although I still find it annoying, it probably is more civilized.WalterMitty said:my reply was directed more at zoe_zee and Marvin, and was meant to be sarcastic.

nope, I actually walk it. But I get more peeved at people who stand in the middle of the moving sidewalks at the airport and get in my way. Airports I am in a hurry...dept stores, not so much.Let me guess, you like to ride the escalator, correct?
The moving sidewalks at airports ... I don't even bother with those anymore. Get one big family with all their luggage carts parked on those things ... you can walk faster.WalterMitty said:nope, I actually walk it. Would that be the "family of idiots"??tom25 said:Get one big family with all their luggage carts parked on those things
Probably ... but I can understand it in a way ... mother, father, 4 kids, maybe grandma in tow. 3 luggage carts packed mile high. Just off an exhausting 5 hour flight. There's no way they feel like walking, but they also can't boot it along the moving sidewalk either. Kids are running back and forth, but mom and dad can barely stand, let alone walk.Marvin said:Would that be the "family of idiots"??![]()
Normally, I walk up escalators, but if you were above me dressed like that, I'd stay put, and to hell with anyone who wanted to pass me!Eden said:I just enjoy standing on one with a short skirt on and no panties!!!

When you drive in traffic and come along a slower vehicle, you pass them, right? Simple solution. When you come to a car parked in the middle of the road doesn't that piss you off, so you honk to pass by, right?therealrex said:People that are in that much of a hurry need a public beating
