Ah well, Florida won. They got they heads straight and played like they meant it. Edmonton at least made it to game 7 of the finals, so that's not bad.
Some media narf called them a "cinderella" team, but that's not accurate.
Well, from Florida's perspective, they can finally say they laid to rest Tampa's ridiculing them as the lesser Florida team for so many years.
Although, as a Canadian, I still do not think the state of Florida should even have two teams, but my time machine is broken so I cannot go back and retcon the entire Bettman era out of existence.
Part of me is sad the Oilers didn't repatriate the Cup to Canada. Part of me is glad for Roberto Luongo, who is a class act. Most of me is glad that a particularly crass Oilers fan I know, who delights in the misery of other teams losing in all sports including hockey, is currently crying like a baby, karma is a bitch.
You know Gadzic?
They don't have the money for Nurse, McDavid and upcoming no. 29's new contract. It was be like the Leafs teams, oh yeah Bouchard will be up soon too for a contract.
So this may have been it for the Oil Country team.
Somehow the Pens managed to keep both Crosby and Malkin for a long period of time. I imagine the Oilers will try to keep their top two guys, it mean it is a no brainer.
They will lose some of the team to free agency and s on, but so will everybody.
