People like him auger bad days for civilization. Sometimes I feel he is a nut case, other times I feel he is very shrewd, crude and lewd. Whatever he is, he sure is not a decent human being.
Personally I believe he's a symptom, not a cause. He's a lightning rod for an ideology that will outlast his actual tenure. Don't go flying any "Mission Accomplished" banners if the happy day comes that he's ousted.

What is really stupid and flabbergasting about the current Government in the USA is how the Republicans have a trifecta in that they control Congress and the Senate and the White House and because of political infighting with the idea of "every man for himself" and a wackload of people with their own selfish agenda they are not getting FUCK ALL DONE.

It is just stunning how fucked up the US Government has become due to all the layers of Bureaucracy which just pisses away tax payer money and Canada is not too far behind to be honest.

At the same time there are the bleeding heart Liberals who just cant get over the fact that the crook Hilary LOST from the lowliest minimum wage workers to hypocritic virtue signaling celebrities....just get over it....she was a shitty candidate to begin with....fuck even the BS chuckle and the fake smile of Angry Tom Mulcair was more convincing than what Hillary brought to the hustings.

While I don't know where else you might be hanging out to see it, as far as this forum goes, you're pretty well the only person I've seen still bringing up Hillary over and over.

That said, I'm completely with you on the absurdity of the all-Republican government getting nothing done. Years of complaining they'd get it all done if they only got the chance. Now they got their chance and they're blowing it. All talk, no walk.

Look how many absolute lunatics there are supporting him. They kept a low profile until now.
Trump has emboldened them, now they prance around with their guns and camo and tiki torches.
America cannot survive this level of internal strife.

This is how Russia was in 1917 or Germany in the late 20s/early 30s.
Violent clashes between factions.
Strongman promises to stamp out violence and bring order to the chaos.
Extraordinary powers granted for duration of the emergency.

Slippery slope.

I somewhat agree with that statement but in both Russia and Germany, what happened was a sequence of events, both financially, and politically.
First ,the general population was given someone to hate, and point a finger at, then a temporary solution was derived within the financial structure of both governments.....basically segregation of an entire race, to create financial gain by eliminating debts owed to a foreign people, living within that countries boundaries.
Second, create financial temporary gain by changing government, and controlling the population with oppression, or superiority ....or starting a war.
But before These two things can happen.........The general population must be disarmed, and deemed defenceless, giving absolute control to the ruling Governments.

That's not going to happen anytime soon in the US.....even if the President has a dead cat on his head or not.

I agree with this 100%. Mike Pence as President will be disastrous for women's reproductive rights, for LBGQT!+ rights as well. He tried to introduce legislation that would have required women in Indiana to pay for cremation services for stillborn/miscarried children, & Trump has (inappropriately) joked that when it comes to gay/transgender rights, Trump has said "oh don't ask that guy; he'd like to hang 'em all!"

Trump and Pence ... it is a bit like a rock and a hard place for our southern friends. No wonder when I go down there many of them are apologetic!

I've run into a few Americans up here on holiday, as well as family living down there.....they all say in conversation that we shouldn't define them by their politics right at this moment.
Deep down, your average American travelling outside of their country, is ashamed of their political situation.

I came to the conclusion years ago that Republicans stay at home and that Democrats ventured beyond their county or state...hell...some of them even made it out of the country.

If You ever hang up your Garter Belt, professionally speaking that is .
God forbid, We have a conflict of interest, around here ?

And You were nominated for a Mod on PERB, I would sincerely second that Motion !

A Female perspective would probably go a long way, to keeping Things fair in the Sandbox ?

I have a feeling that 99.9 % of the current moderation is of a Male perspective ? I could be wrong ?

Cheers

P.S. Nothing like taking parts of a Quote, out of Context ? LOL

Well thanks, it wasn't ever my intention to post 5000 times...guess I just figure everyone is entitled to my opinion occasionally! I was just so struck by what Sen. Flake was saying I could hardly contain myself. As for hanging up my garter belts...well, someday, but not today! I think that having a female owner of the board wearing FredZed's hat is a great start to having a female perspective represented here, but take on responsibility for being the female perspective is a task I'll leave to her!

The 6 to the.. Other 6
I've seen the whole speech but apparently The WH and other Republicans isn't paying Flakes any heed or caring about his position. Most news network is just talking about him not running again or pointing to Clinton's involvement in "fabrication or aiding the Russia story"...

So it seems the News spin machination is doing its job again and in a few weeks, no one will remember this man's impassioned speech. :(

Wow you are completely out of touch with History. With regards to Russia it came down to absolute despotic rule by the Romanoff royalty.Peasants that worked the land were hung because their cows fed on grass grown on land owned by the Royal family....it was a wholesale uprising by the worker class against the Royals and it was egged on and formented by the likes of Tolstoy/Marx.It was a Bolshevick revolution.....that revolution also affected the outcome of world war 1 as Russia withdrew from the war to settle it's own internal strife.

As for Germany the people were beset with the outcome of the Versaille Treaty and after 20+ years of it were pretty pissed off and enough so that they stupidly elected the most evil man in history.

Both of those are NOT comparable to the present situation in the USA by a long shot and if you wish to compare Hitler to Trump you need to change the meds you are on.

Currently in Canada we have the same thing shaping up...the rich leftist elites telling us what is best and at the same time living under a different set of rules...Justine Trudeau want to punish "tax dodgers" who use incorporations because they are not "paying their fair share"....but the POS lieing scumbag has done the same thing for 15+ years....same for his Finance Minister....the mantra is "do as I say not as I do".

How long does a Canadian who needs hip replacement surgery have to wait to get it done?....4 months?...6 months?...yeah well Jack Layton got his in the record time of 6 weeks from when it was diagnosed to when he was walking out of the hospitaL.....two tier health care already exists in Canada....it is reserved for the very rich and the politically connected.

In summation....to compare the current situation of Russia leading up to and through the 1918 Revolution to America in it's current situation is utter stupidity.

Few quick fact checks.
1. Hitler was NEVER ELECTED. (best was around 38%)
2. Germany was starving due to US PULLING OUT of domestic support. (due to stock market crash '29)
3. Russia screwed their own farmers just like the US screwed theirs in the 30's. (dust bowl '35)
4. von Hindenburg appointed Hitler vice Chancellor in hopes of "if you can't beat em, join em". (Hitler took over)
5. Germany had enough money to feed its own instead it Militarized itself again. (brainwashed n darn near won WWI and II)
6. Canada closer to US of the roarin 20's than we think. (everything leveraged, get rich quick investments, privatize it all, highest household dept ever)
7. BOC owns the entire Country and Trust Fund boy knows it, but Aba likely has his money off shore. (so he does not care)
8. Trump knows US Treasury owns Canada, we are a mere Tonka Toy to them in terms of Trade. (Trump-"NAFTA who cares" and Trudeau- "I'm rich regardless- SELFIE")
I'm no history prof, but it seems pretty simple to figure out.
