This year I plan to enter a hockey pool organized by one of the guys at work and a few of his other buddies. It's a pick one per group style of pool and the prize money is pretty decent, as 60 or 70 people enter at $20 a pop. There's 5 players per group except for the first group which has only 4 which contains the elite of the elite. If you were to pick one of them as your anchor, which one would it be?

That's my logic and why I am kind of leaning towards him. Crosby's durability is my only concern with him because you know the points are there. Guys like Kunitz and Neal are in the pool too and I feel if I pick Crosby I need to pick them as it is very possible that's who Sid's linemates will be and I could get a shit ton of points with them in tow.Doesn't Stamkos have the lowest injury risk out of all of them?

Neal has played with both in the past, though more recently with Malkin because of Iginla's arrival in Pittsburgh. I've done the all your eggs in one basket approach in pools before, with mixed results. If everyone stays healthy, SCORE!!! Probably better to use that approach when their is a history of health. The rest of the groupings will have less variance.
If he does have injury problems. If its 10 games or whatever then its a wash.
But if he does miss a significant amount of time, you are screwed if you have him.
The people who didn't pick him will have the best chance to win, and there will be 10-20 people.

Is it just points based or do goals count more than assists? PIMs are a wash but if shots on goal is a stat used then Stamkos and Ovechkin are the guys to go with.

Sid Crosby, for two reasons, best player in the NHL and based on the strongest team, I would go with the Penguins.
