I have been using Speak Out for years without any issues. Till I went to see Miss Beatrice and realize that my messages were not going through. To make the long story short, I logged into my account and it showed zero balance and said that I have to switch to a new SIM.

I guess I had no choice but to do that. So I got a new SIM and tried to activate it online. There was a bit of process involved but the real shock came when the instructions said that I must choose a monthly plan (minimum being $19).

Number one, that is expensive. I used to spend about $100 and it would last me about a year. Also, $100 would get me $25 as bonus.

Number two, now I have to provide my credit card number. Of course, it means providing addresses and other personal info as well.

I guess it is time to switch the provider. Any other plans where I don't need a monthly plan? Something similar to what Speak Out was before!!

If not, I am afraid, I will have to either find an SP that doesn't mind communicating via email only, or just see my regulars so I can use my personal phone or just quit this hobby !!!!

That's the thread I was going to point you to as well, one quick answer is, get the yearly pre-paid plan from one of the smaller flankers from Bell (Lucky Mobile), Rogers (Chatr), Telus (Public Mobile and/or Koodo), or even use Freedom Mobile. 1 year plan for unlimited calls/text and X gigs of data.

No to freedom mobile tried to get their $129/yearly w/20Gb of data plan, not anonymous requires personal details and not sure about Lucky and Koodo.
It seems like quite few of us settled on Chatr as the better choice either $100/yr for 400texts or $129-149/yr unlimited w/20-30Gb of data and I think you can still buy Chatr vouchers to top up your account after initial setup. Pretty much all of these providers have similar or same 2 types of plans.🤷‍♂️

Go get a $15 sim from koodo per month? I’m paying $20 after taxes… we do need a real number these days to book certain providers and this is the cheapest and reliable.

Thanks everyone. I have having issues with my phone. I have puts funds in it and got the 19.99 plan. It seems like I am able to make out the calls but when I try to call from another number, it doesn't go thru. It says, This subscriber can not receive messages at this time. I have tried to call the customer service which basically does not exist. You get an automated response which at the end tells that due to high volume, they can not take the call and advise you to go online and the line is disconnected.

Did anyone else have that issue about calls not coming in?

Resolved. I had to enable VoLTE in the settings.
