Over the black friday period, which now seems to last 10 days now for some reason, I saw plenty of ads for high end lingerie online.

Honey Birdette, Agent Provocateur, that kind of thing. Now I am old and not the target market at all, but the prices of this stuff are outrageous. Some of it is flattering and attractive, but some of it looks like overpriced crap, at least to my eye.

I don't get it, admittedly a male perspective. It is super comfy? Much of it looks quite complex and uncomfortable to wear. Is this fashion gone amok, just scamming ladies?

This is a sincere question, some of these things are $500 to $1000 for what looks like about 10 bucks worth of fabric and sewing. I am leading towards scam, or at least overblown hype.

No matter how expensive they are, they only lasted 5 minutes and then on the floor! :D

Booooo, I am not a fan of lingerie, or even basic bra and panty sets. Talk about uncomfortable. I own sets, only because of certain photoshoots, and my time as a burlesque entertainer, but now they just
collect dust in my drawers, or become dust rags to clean my drawers. As for those "high end" branded undergarments, you're paying for the ludicrous name. And attempting to own the clout of owning them.
There are plenty of Women and men who appreciate the sultry and often classic undergarments, I'm just not one of them.

Many many years of conditioning by male led ad teams praying on insecurities, using supermodels to show it all off.
Add in the whole pantyhose thing where the gals pay what? $10 a pop and those things might last two wears?
The whole fashion biz is hype.

I am known for my large lingerie collection. I truly enjoy it and wear it almost daily. I make sure to get comfortable lingerie that fits.

It can be extremely sexy in your everyday life, a delicate bra under a blazer or something like that.

I get a lot of outfit requests involving lingerie too. The garter belt stays on 😉

I had a few partners over the years that asked for that sort of stuff. I think a lot of it is just seeing if you WOULD get it for them. The sad thing is I would buy it, then some bullshit would happen before I ever even got to see it myself! Oh well, hope the next guys enjoyed it so it wasnt totally wasted money!

Are you saying you go commando? There are lots of ways that women can be attractive and sexy without filling the pockets of ridiculously expensive brands. Just imagine going out with a woman who tells you as you are entering a restaurant that she is not wearing any undergarments.

It's for them, not for us. Handbags, shoes, etc the value of the materials is a fraction their retail worth. But wearing it makes the wearer feel luxurious, valued, and sexy. It also makes for great photography. I'm all for anything that makes a person feels like they're a million bucks (but I'll be damned if they say I forced them to spend that money.) Men love it because when we see it in person, it means 99.9999% we're going to get some action. It's not the lingerie we love, it's the promise it brings. But as @blondeluver said, it'll last 5 minutes in the bed room before its on the floor. And you *have* to take it off or else it could get damaged.

Now if she were to wear a full set of lingerie for a dinner and a show, she's doing it for us.

I guess there's no real men's equivalent, which is kind of a shame. I wish there was something I could wear to the bedroom that made me feel like an American Eagle model.

I usually only buy Agent Provocateur on sale with gift cards that I receive from clients, or at least that’s how I justify it. I prefer it to Honey Birdette because it fits me better and ships faster.

It is not super comfy. I wouldn’t even go so far as to call it comfortable at all 🤣🤣🤣

But does it make me feel hot and therefore ready to fuck???
Yeah, something like that. 🤭💗

I used to tell a regular after we had been seeing each other a while that she should wear what she wants on dates, whatever she feels comfy in, but she still always greeted me in lingerie (no complaints here, especially when it was pieces I bought for her). And I think it was for the same reason that Skyler mentions -- getting her lingerie on was part of her process in preparing to see me.
Personally, I always like my gifts wrapped 😈

I dont greet people on lingerie because in the unfortunate event that I would have a violent, thief or “anything of that nature” client, I would feel a bit weird having to kick them out of my place wearing lingerie and heels.

I keep that for after the shower

….which begs the question, what do you greet them in? Dayton boots and a smile? 😁

Yes, I choose to go commando as freely as possible, when I can depending on heat and how much activity is going to be impacting my tiddies, lol. Female underwear is awkward. Doesn't matter which cut of panty, G-string, thong, Brazilian, boy shorts are always bunching in your ass crack. As a Tom Boy at heart and athlete, I prefer none at all, a sports bra, my Man's boxers or seamless panties in the Summer will do.
When I greet my suitors at the door, I dress casually sexy. Since my Achilles injury, I got used to being bare footed and having to get back to rockin' my heels again.

I remember I worked in a restaurant and was explaining to a new staff member that at the beginning of service, all the tables had to be lined up perfectly; the cutlery and napkins equidistant from the edges of the tables and each other; the bar stools all spaced evenly; glasses all similarly aligned.

He asked me why: when the restaurant was busy no one would notice. No one would kneel down and check that the tables were in a straight line. No one would stare at their neighbour’s table to see if it was set the same.

I explained that no, no one would do these things or notice particularly. However, having the restaurant like this did have an unconscious effect on the customers. They might not notice those specific things, but all of them together created an ambiance that had an impact.

Fine lingerie, meticulously styled hair, expensive makeup, all these things… they come together and have an effect. Most guys can’t tell the quality of fabric or stitching is better, but it does lend to that overall ambience.

Obviously there are exceptions. But expertly made garments last, fit better, feel better, and look better. No I have not been brainwashed. You often get what you pay for.

…not with honey birdette though that stuff sucks most of the time 😂

I personally love it when a lady is wearing sexy lingerie set. Especially stockings, thong, and garter and high heels. 👠

Yes, sometimes it’s on the floor in 5 minutes.

But agreed 👍 it is the personality and chemistry ⚛ that is very important as part of connecting with someone intimately.

I agree with @ExpCharlee that it is part of the entire ambiance: this includes the little things like shower experience, towels etc.

There is a great lingerie couples buying experience in Montreal very pretty woman like
