Hey Perberts.

I have had my iphone for about a year now and about a month ago, I downloaded the new software iOS 8.1.2 on it.

I have noticed that now my phone keeps losing the wifi connection. I have to turn wifi off for a bit, turn it back on and it works but only for about a minute and it drops off again.

I have tried a few things that I found online but no luck. Anyone else had this issue? Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

Did you restore your old stuff onto a new 5S a year ago? I had a warranty replacement in the Fall and merely restored it from iCloud. Seemed like a good idea at the time but later found there were lots of nagging issues.

I have 8.1.2 on mine and have had lots of issues with Wifi. I nuked all the Wifi spots in my phone and re-installed them one by one. All seems ok now.

I've found with this version of IOS it seems to work more consistently when the phone is turned completely off and then restarted once per day. One of the Apple Genius Bar staff said its good practise to do so daily. Sort of reminds me of Microsoft Blue Screen but as long as it works all is good with me.

Also, do you know if your wireless router is not the problem?

I had a funky router that would work most of the time but would lose its brains now and then. It was > 5 years old and when I upgraded my Internet speed, I also upgraded my router and it made a huge improvement.

The desktop at my home is on wifi as well and it seems to be working fine, so is the laptop. Seems like only the iphone has issues. I just tested it at work and seems like there are no issues. I think there must be something between the modem and iphone.

I have been doing some research online and many ppl seem to be having the same problem. One of the solutions offered is to 'rename' the router/modem. ............. Just when I thought i figured the hi-tech stuff out,... life throws another curve ball!!

have you tried unplugging your router and modem? Sometimes that does the trick when something isn't connecting to you WiFi. Re plug the modem in first then the router.

Now that brought back some childhood memories ... of skipping stones, not phones. :pound:

Problem Solved!

After spending a while on the internet, I read the suggestion, "Change the wifi name". I had to figure out how to do it but I did and it worked.

This morning I had realised that the phone worked fine with the wifi at our office and it was having the issue only with the wifi at home.

Thanks everyone.
