Chicago won its 3rd cup in 6 seasons, prompting various notables to term them a dynasty....no easy accomplishment in the salary-cap era.

Haven't seen anyone mention it, but it's not a huge stretch to say they came close last year, losing the West Conf. Final in Game 7 OT, a series
which most agreed was the de facto Cup Final.

so, with a bounce or two, they could be threepeats.

Maybe not a good comparison but this series reminded me of the early Oilers when, loaded with raw young talent, they lost to a veteran Islanders team, then
went on to win 5 cups in 7 years.

Sometimes a team has to lose to learn how to win and one gets the sense that these Bolts will be around for a while.

Closest series I can recall, never more than one goal separation until Kane's goal with approx. 5 minutes to go.I'm still surprised we didn't see at least one game
go to OT.

Conversely, the 'Nucks-Bruins was the most one-sided 7 game series I ever saw.the 3 games in Boston should have had a mercy rule, but I digress.

Does anyone else notice that in the Women's World Cup there has been a refreshing absence of the theatrics that feature in the men's version of the "beautiful game?"
It gets old quickly to see "men", barely touched, drop and writhe as if they've been shot.....only to recover, Lazarus-like, the moment the free-kick has been awarded.

And here I always thought divas and prima donnas were female terms.

Was walking d/t this am and there are large numbers of soccer fans clad in USA colors.crowd of 50,000 plus expected tonight.

Speaking of divas, the nba finals could end tonight,as GS seems to be putting it together.not a big nba fan.

note to manni......I can't remember where I heard the term "pisscutter" so I googled it. Seems to be American slang for something exceptional, but
there was also a Scottish reference where it had a negative ring to it.

Finally, I recently read(forget who) someone opine that Eddie Lack would bring a 3rd round draft pick in a trade.Isn't he worth more than that? The guy has
shown he's capable of being a starting goalie.

Hope this starts some comments.

hey there grusse,

good thoughts there.

I think Chicago deserves that Dynasty label, especially in the salary-cap era.
I quite enjoyed the series because the skills that these players possess was remarkable to see,
and there were no cheap shots that I could think of.

great observation on FIFA Women, the game benefits when the diving and theatrics are done away with.
but the pace is a bit on the slower side so I'm not really watching full matches. just highlights.

okay, I know you're not a big NBA fan but this series is quite something.
the Steph vs LeBron show was prob worth the price of admission and more–
there were great stretches of counter attacks from both teams and Steph playing
all world got the better of LeBron last game. the analyst were correct when they
compared Steph's performance like watching a video game. I'll expect a huge push back from
LeBron tonight and send the series back to GS for Game 7 on Friday.

as far as Eddie being a No 1, I think he needs a few more 65-70 games per season under his belt with
a winning percentage.
not sure if he's ever had that workload, even this past season.
he's an excellent backup for now and there's nothing wrong with that.

I recognize the talent of the nba, esp. Curry&James and I've watched some of the series.

just seems like the nba has more than its share of drama queens, think of "The Decision".

I remember when the Griz were here,it was a common occurrence for them to brush past kids who'd been waiting for autographs; arrogant p...ks who think their s..t doesn't stink,
when all many of them are is freaks of nature.

you seldom here about NHL guys refusing to sign.

were the griz ever involved in community events like Canucks and Lions?.

Basketball is a good game (has to be, was invented by a Canuck, lol) even tho' travelling is now an accepted part of it.

Cleveland hasn't had a champ since 1964, but at least they'll get to see a champ crowned tonight.(my fearless prediction)

Fair enough grusse, but women's soccer is played at the pace of molasses...worked with a young kid who played soccer locally at the rep level...nothing too elite, a local rep team, they played the women's national team in an exhibition and beat them handily

and besides, I'm sure there is a lot of diving in the women's game

as for the salary cap argument regarding the Black Hawks, yes, they have to work within a salary cap but so do all their opponents so it's a level field relatively speaking in that regard...the Hawks have won so they deserve their due, but to say it was harder than what the Canadiens, Islanders and Oilers did in absolute terms is debatable, because although those teams didn't have to deal with a salary cap, their opposition at the time didn't either, they could go out and buy and resign players willy-nilly

People say Tiger Woods was great because he had superior equipment compared to the older golfers, but you know what, so did his opponents

Chicago is good, but I don't think they belong in the same breath as those teams, especially the 76-79 Canadiens

Scotty Bowman is now the proud owner of 14 Stanley Cup rings...I wonder which one he wears

Should be interesting when Coach Q's contract comes up.
If Mike Babcock ( 1 Stanley Cup, 2 Olympic Golds, etc.) gets $50 Million/8 years what is Joel Quenneville (3 Stanley Cups) worth?
I bet he wishes his contract was up right now but the Hawks have him for 2 more years (through the 16/17 season).

Only two dipstick cities in the NHL would offer Babcock that kind of money, Toronto and Vancouver.

Toronto just happened to do it first.

Good for the women playing soccer and great for Canada to be hosting the FIFA World Cup. For the casual fan, I guess it's fine. But sports like soccer and hockey that I have watched (and played) my entire life, I just find it difficult to watch the women's game. It's such a precipitous drop-off after a season of watching the British Premier League, and even Major League Soccer. The skill, speed and intensity is just not there. On the other hand, women's tennis is way better to watch than men's just because of the longer rallies and less emphasis on the serving game. And of course many of the ladies look damn good in those outfits.

Man-in-Sub...you forgot to mention the orgasmic-sounding grunt-screams that accompany almost every shot.the decbel level might approach that of a 747,lol.

Agree with the comment re lookin' gd in their outfits.Actually, some of the soccer ladies don't look half-bad either.

I think that's the real (only) reason most men watch women's professional sports.

not sure about that,escape.

true, some of the ladies are very attractive, but I've watched many women's hockey games,eg. Canada vs USA where there's not much sex appeal due to the hockey uniforms.

on the other hand, lingerie football is just a blatant T&A spectacle.
