If you want mostly adventure, action or hands free sort of video footage in dirty or wet places, GoPro is the one to pick, rugged, small, etc.
But thinking of taking nice photos or just normal videos of normal scenery and such, not really. Not the best every day or travel camera for color, quality, speed, or battery life. Also too wide a lens for some normal pictures.

Yes, I wanted it mostly for outdoor activities like para - sailing etc. For regular photos, I do have my old fashioned Canon.
For filming action shots, GoPro is definitely the way to go. You also want to consider getting the right kind of mount for the activity you're gonna use it for.
Pretty much any of the GoPro line of cameras will do the trick really well as they're super easy to use and the video quality on them is fantastic.
I would recommend buying one of the protective cases if you are going to be doing anything more physical with it. They're pretty rugged on their own, but when you add a protective case onto it they're borderline indestructible. You'll also want to make sure that you have a few SD cards or at least one with a large amount of storage space as the HD video does tend to take up a fair amount.
On a separate note, they are a very convenient and easy to maneuver video device for use in the bedroom with either your favorite SP or significant other. Obviously for this type of use all parties involved should consent to the recording of video.

Go-Pro's come in a O-ring sealed protective clear case, that is removable, and if I remember right a head strap, they also have an option to take stills at determined intervals for those longer sessions....you know ,for that p.o.v. action your going to submit to Porn-Hub....
If you use the clear case, your camera should survive a good soaker.
Only O rings I can think of is those of Skylar Mack and Egyptian Betty and I was Going Pro between them with my tongue.
