How many of you guys/girls realize that the Canucks are signing Gaborik next year?

Now I'm not saying this, but I was reading Cantthinkofname's other post, suggesting that we're supposed to know that this is happening.

so I guess this is a survey that we can measure against sometime in the future so this canthinkofdink claims he knows this is happening, which has got to be the worst kept secret in hockey if this dink can predict this signing.

He's so smart, no wonder Sundin's here ;)

So a raise of hands, who knows that Gaborik is signing with Canucks?

I'm not aware of his imminent signing...

but what do I know, I'm an immigrant...

but what a line that would make, Gaborik on the same line with Sundin and the Sedins...

Gaborik and Demitra are very very good friends and this has been a speculation for some time now.

Gaborik has already stressed that he does not want to play for Minnesota anymore.
Canucks in my view would be complete fools not to sign him. We're at least 1 or 2 players away from going all the way.

If our D- line is healthy, Sweet Lou stands on his head when he's back, Sundin in the line now and maybe 1 or 2 more picks by deadline, this is a very dangerous team!!

Nucks have already proven that we can beat Eastern teams in my mind, to me this year the sharks are the one to worry about but I think they will choke when playoffs hit.

This team is look very good right now.

Gaborik turned down an eight year 85 million contract from the Wild because he was looking for a 12 year contract, that's right a 12 year contract. Medical insurance only covers 7 years of a contract so the Wild would be on the hook for Gaborik's many medical bills.

All NHL teams are allowed one brittle player and we already have one with. Plus Salo has a no trade clause so he is ours for years.

I had no idea he is coming to Vancouver and i am not sure if i would like that. There is no question he is very talanted but there is some baggage that comes along with his talent.
I guess that's why Mr. Gillis is paid the big bucks so he can make those decisions.

ps BJ Hunter were you dreaming about this ?? post is at 5:16 am !!!!!!!!

Of course not, I won't lose sleep over Gabby; it's only that Canucklehead Cantthinkdink who not only claims, but KNOWS, that he's coming here next year based on his relationship with Pavol Demitra. What an idiotic way of thinking.

On that basis, then Naslund could've signed w/ Calgary since he's 'best' friends with Bertuzzi.

Stupid Canuckleheads. next thing you know, Canthinkdinkofme is going to claim that Sundin signed here b/c of Wellwood, ex-Leaf teammates for a bit. lol

1. Not a Canucks fan
2. Nazzy/Bert not best buds anymore
3. Sundin came here in LARGE PART because of fellow Swedes
4. A simple question: have you missed a single edition of The Hotstove this season? I have NOT

Sami Salo Part 2

Gaborik is so injury prone, how could you justify any salary other than a "per game" basis......But God knows how many times he has scored over the years against the Canucks....

Not wanting to sound rascist, but I'm a die hard Canadian school of hockey. I prefer less Europeans or Russian HOCKEY players, i certainly like the people but it just seems more canadian when it comes to hockey; you can still have skill like Lecavalier, Iginla but the hard-hitting like Pronger, Blake...not unless if these Europeans were born and raised here, well, then that's different.

With the exception of Lidstrom, Larionov, Holmstrom, there aren't many european players I would want on my team. I remember Hasek saying something along the lines of winning the Olympic Gold in hockey was bigger than the Stanley Cup...

so go figure, why I'm biased, I can back it up...thus, why i dont care for the Sedin sissies, Demitra, Gaborik or kovachuck...and I recall last year on the Hot Stove (hockey nite intermission w/ Ron Maclean and other hockey experts/analysts) saying that Kovachuk is a 'cancer' in the dressing room...

Actually, Hossa did surprise me in the off-season, turning down Pens' monstrous offer of 8 year, 8 million per, in order to sign w/ the Wings for just 1 year so he could have better chances of winning a Cup. yet I dont think he's worth 8, not a player i would build a team around...

Cantthinkatall

here you go, since you know he's coming here, can you also make him less brittle? lol

http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/2009/01/01/gaborik_rumours/

we don't want this garbage, over-rated soft European playing on a Canadian team already loaded w/ too many soft Europeans, though this 6" 5' Sundin rental centre is one exception.

But knowing this Nucks' exceptional management talent of overpaying, ie. Sundin, Messier, Bure, yet not willing to pay Anson Carter, who was the only player that could play w/ the Sedin sissies, and 32 goals to prove that, or not willing to pay Jovonoski, who'd I rather have any day over injury-prone Salo & Bieksa, i wont be surprised if the Nucks do get Gaborik.

Besides, like Cantthink_at_all said, we're supposed to know that he's coming here b/c him & Demitra are good friends.

Bure was overpaid?
He never made more than $5.5 mil as a Canuck, Messier was making $6 mil at the time and was a bust. And stars all over the league were making more than him. He was paid less than market value for a 60 goal scorer. It wasn't until he got to Florida that he signed his deal for $8 mil a year.

And how is Bieksa "injury prone"?
He's basically had 1 freak injury, when he was cut by a skate. That hardly makes the guy a fragile player. There's no way he belongs in the same sentence as Salo when talking about soft players.

Now, Jovonovski was injury prone. Look at his stats. From 2002-2007 he missed at least 20 games per year due to injury. Add to that the fact that he was a reckless passer who gave up too many pucks, and the fact that he did not want to be here, and you'll see that your statement is flawed. It wasn't a matter of not paying him, he wanted to go golfing in the sunshine and signed with Phoenix the first day he was a free agent.
