Yeah, I know. That's what I was saying, just being THREATENED with rape is probably enough to scare the shit out of someone. Realistically (if she was threatened), the cops probably weren't going to really do it, but they just used it as some psychological mind fuck, pretty scummy thing to do for someone in authority.
When I was in a criminology class a few years ago, we watched this documentary about a study done in the 70's (it would be illegal to do now probably) where they took a bunch of average people (students I think) and split them into two groups. One group was assigned as cops/prison wardens and the other group was assigned as the inmates. Within a few days, the cops were abusing the shit out of the inmates, they eventually had to stop the study cause it was getting too out of hand. You get people in a position of authority, and you will get some people who get a kick out of treating others like shit.
