Does this allude to the blood test for VD, similar to the one must get before obtaining a marriage license? Please explain.

You can go to www.getcheckedonline.com and get it all done free more or less anonymously at a LifeLab. The only caveat is that the LifeLab appointment is tied to your BC Services card.
If you donate blood regularly, does Canada Blood Services test for sexually transmitted diseases, thus making other testing redundant?
Yes, but not all STIs are detectable via blood testing, so it can't eliminate all need for testing.
When I go for STI testing they take a blood sample and a urine sample.
Was tested a couple of weeks ago, and the nurse said there has been a large upsurge in a gonorrhea strain that can take 3 months before it shows up on tests, so every three months for me.
I got mine done a couple of months ago. All metrics are excellent except my psa is a bit elevated

Lifelabs testing via getcheckedonline does not include testing for HPV and HSV unfortunately after sampling. Both can be dormant and you don't even know you're infected until that genital wart or ulcer forms even though you keep coming clean on HIV, gonorrhea, and syphilis on getcheckedonline.

Make sure to get your throat swabbed if you've had oral sex. This is commonly missed due to old school guidelines. You may need to advocate for throat swabs.
