It would be a remarkable day when prostitution ends on this planet and it would be even more remarkable the day it is officially legalized. I am praying for the latter of course.

i don’t often agree with CB but on this one i fully support. decrim is what we want much like the days in Canada before the govt legalized weed, it was better then and cheaper. once the govt gets involved everything just becomes a shit show. rest assured if escorts had to be licensed and declare their income that cost would simply be passed on to the consumer. it adds unnecessary red tape and creates barriers of entry as mentioned to those with less resources. not to mention that i doubt most escorts want to be listed and tracked on a govt database. i can’t imagine how well those conversations with customs would go when travelling abroad, especially the united states, if ‘sex worker’ was on their job profile even if that isn’t the reason for entry.

I agree it should be decriminalized but lets be real, you just dont want to pay taxes on it lol
I don’t know where this idea that we don’t pay taxes comes from but I 100% pay taxes :/ and decriminalisation also doesn’t mean we would be exempt from paying taxes. Please stop spewing nonsense lol

We now have two Ontario Superior Court cases striking down C-36 on the worker side since just like the old law against "bawdy houses" and "living of avails" was long ago after going up the Court system was struck down by Canadian Supreme Court based on "safety" provisions of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

The earlier London Ont Superior Court case against an escort agency was not appealed by the Crown, probably because they were afraid of another loss that would be Canada-wide. The agency owners won nothing illegal about the agency. Not sure if the most recent case would be appealed.

I have not followed the situation in BC since the Sheriff in Saanich sp? nicely suggested the then many agencies move to Victoria and for years there were no issues including the large incall of an agency downtown Victoria.

When C36 was passed many police agencies including Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal announced no change in policies unless underaged or other illegal activities but not interested in private consenting adults as I recall. I have the press releases somewhere!

In Toronto, its been a non-issue with many large agencies as under the old law, never offer sex for money only companionship.

Of course, the customer side has not had any court challenges that I know of but appears virtually no legal issues as long as don't pay for sex

And of course, for the last year or so have had the Covid issues so I have been a hermit until recently have been fully vaccinated and once travel restrictions are lifted look forward to visiting Toronto (where I have been going for about 20 yrs) as well as again to Montreal and Victoria.

So it seems there is defacto decriminalization in at least most of Canada. No one wants the "legalization" with the terrible situation in the expensive abusive restrictive in the legal brothels of NV. Dennis Hof I have met a few times (in Phoenix) very nice just would never use his places. He did die a few years ago.

Regardless of status, the income of course is taxable - just ask Al Capone.

Update: Here is a link to the latest case https://www.thestar.com/news/gta/20...y-federal-sex-work-laws-unconstitutional.html

It mentions the original Bedford case but not the agency win from London Ont in 2020 that also held C36 violates the Charter.

YIKES, looks like my huge sexworkcanada.com site was hacked with a phishing scam, although sexworktoronto.com is ok. I have backup files stored on dropbox but will have to research how to restore them... shucks. They are tar.gz files! I think my Victoria and Montreal sites are Ok but checking.

You do realize that this thread has nothing to do with the title , right? Just a dumb idea from the OP, who apparently is of the opinion that he appears drunk even when sober. Thanks for the verification.
