Flush condoms?

My bro in law is a plumber and I asked him about flushing condoms. Turns out it's a big no-no. Not biodegradable and contribute to plumbing clogs in your apartment as well as further along. But from what I've seen some SPs assume it's fine.

Most providers I know make sure they go in the garbage because yes they can clog up pipes. I always have a garbage in my bedroom and ask my clients to put it in there, because I don’t want to hire a plumber to come fix a clogged pipe with a bunch of condoms stuck in it.

I thought it was common knowledge not to flush condoms down toilets.

If I'm at an outcall and the client doesn't want them to show up in the hotel bin, I wrap them up and throw them away in a bin somewhere else.

Also full rolls of toilet paper. Never did figure out how my 2 year old did that years ago! Took me 2 hours to snake it out..........

Yes definitely not cat litter, a neighbor of my brother was hit with a 9k bill when they had to dig to free up clogged pipes from "flushable litter"

Well.... common knowledge changes as the generations change. 20 somethings are occasionally shocked by my lack of what they consider common knowledge.

Never go down the toilet because when the municipalities clean out the lagoon sludge and apply it to farmland, a bunch of rubber trees grow wild.

Well, not quite. These days, most cities incinerate the sludge and then apply it to forest lands. Typically, too much heavy metals for use on farmlands. Sorry about being a wet napkin.

I've caught a client trying to flush a condom down the toilet because they think it's evidence that can be used against them 🙄🤢 I told him that unless he is paying my plumbing bill, he better step away from the toilet and then he can take the damn thing and dispose it himself somewhere else.

There are only 3 things that goes into the toilet. Your small business, big business and toilet paper. That's it. Nothing else.

Anything else will be a costly repair especially deodourant and rats. They will clog up the pipes!

It's hard to say for sure. The ones I'm familiar with seem to be doing a good job of managing heavy metals and adhering to strict regulations.

The advantage of incineration is that drives mercury and arsenic into forms where they can be captured from the gas stream and dealt with properly. I don't know about Canada but I know in the US that crematoriums down there need to have mercury capture system for the off gas. All those fillings in the teeth.

Condoms don't even flush easily. Most of us girls have had to fish a used condom out of the toilet bowl's water. Not nice.

Throwback to having to pay an exorbitant amount to replace the sump pump at my last place because the plumber found so many “latex gloves” stuck in it. Never again
