THIS is the point I was making. People don't suddenly change the way they behave when you point a tv camera at them; it just makes it clearer, and public. Every woman you know has worked with a guy like that, who thinks it's ok to say things like that and behave that way in every industry/ job setting. First example that comes to mind for me is when my direct supervisor asked me "How do you pronounce this word (the French verb for 'to push')? Is it Poosay? Do you pronounce it POOS-ay, or pooSAY? Is it POOSee? pooSEEE?" How thrilling! To get away with saying PUSSY that many times to a female co-worker with a smirk on your face??? And in front of a classroom full of 6th graders, too...funny, right? Thank God this was the responsible supervising adult male in the building! If he is this big a douchebag in public, when he knows he is on TV, imagine how he treats the women he works with.
The students, if any of them caught it, were polite enough to be properly horrified into not responding. I simply kept a straight face and suggested a verb that was easier to pronounce. In retrospect though, I wish I had figuratively nailed that fucker to the wall.
